It's half mental and half organizational. Mental as in losing focus way too often and feeling pressure to win, which is messing up with his mechanics.

Organizational in that I think the coaching and developmental staff have become way too obsessed with the strikeout that everyone is trying to strike everyone rather than trying to get hitters out. Chien Ming Wang and young Ivan Nova used to pitch very efficiently.

The Yankees signed these dinosaurs when steroids were still prevalent. For the most part, they have been legislated out of the sport (wink). So the Yanks are stuck with broken down old men who can't be fixed. At least Tex and Beltran come off the books end of this year unless they are traded. A-Rod and CC come off the books next year. At that point the Yanks can start fielding a younger team with shorter contracts. This is how baseball is now, a young man's game.

thats just false. It was a mets town in the 80's and then it became a yankees town with the dominance in the 90's and 2000's.

Its back to being a mets town. It just the way the city is for baseball. You have your die hards both ways but the city shifts with the more popular team.

This isn't a knicks/nets and giants/jets where the former will always be more important than the later.

The yanks still draw more fans to the game (% and total) than the mets and better TV rating. The popularity between the two is definitely not as bad as knicks/nets, but it still require the Yankees to be really bad and the Mets to be really good to make it more even. No one cared about the Yankees
Back in the 80s because they literally sucked like a decade and the 89 mets obviously won the world series.

The Mets were popular in the 80's for about 4-5 years. 85-89. When Gooden and Strawberry coked out. Then it was over. They won in 86. By the 90s it was over again for a while.

Good win last night. Hopefully CC can go deep into the game tonight since we're not sure of the availability of the big 3 in the pen.

Mets were something in the 80's and had a brief stint in the 2000's but the yanks have been relevant in nearly every decade the same can't be said for the Mets.

My old man was a NY Giants fan turned Mets fan as they replaced the giants. I went to shea as a kid and have love for the fanbase but NY as a baseball city around the country is known as Yankees territory for the most part.

I have some love for both though, which may sound strange, because I grew up early on going to both stadiums.

Whatchu talking bout? The Skankees suck this year (you know it!) and probably for the next two years as well. Enjoy your rebuild boo. But you can watch the Mets in the playoffs if you want. 8-)

Alright, let's get into this...

First off, GM Brian Cashman needs to be FIRED.

After inheriting a Dynasty courtesy of Gene Michael and Bob Watson, this guy hasn't been able to draft well to save his life but let's be clear, Cashman has NEVER been a scout. He's a lawyer by trade. But as Serevino works on setting a record for losses as a Yankee starter...let's talk about his free agent signings:

Jacob Ellsbury PAID as much as Alex Rodriguez has FOUR more seasons at $21M per after this season. Ellsbury hasn't put up anywhere near the numbers the Yankees had hoped.

Mark Teixiera ($23M), Carlos Beltran ($15M) are off the books...

CC Sabbathia's final year $25M is a mutual option so he will likely be bought out...

Will Alex Rodriguez retire at the end of the season? That $21M next season is still on the table.

Just 4 players equal around $80M PER season....

After this season, the Yanks will be able to reload but draft players? NAW man. The front office cannot draft. Keep in mind, MLB takes a few seasons for these picks to mature.

Ok. Let's see how this all works out for you going forward under MLB's present structure and the Yanks present ownership. Like I said, you'll be rebuilding the next two years after this while the Mets will be competing for rings.

Yo man lets take a deep breathe here. Obviously these weren't the best signings, but it's not like they don't have a plan. This money coming off the books + young talent + Free Agency in the next couple of years will have the Yankees booming again. Also, they started off extremely slow, but have been winning lately so props to them for not giving up. It's a long season. About 115 more games to go!
