But then again, maybe Snell AND Bauer can stir things up enough to make up some for losing Cole if they lose him. Also could be interesting in terms of Cole's contract situation if TJ or similar is the outcome.

I will drink Delaware river water if Brian Cashman is no longer employed by the Yankees a year from now.

 Having another head sprout out your shoulders and glowing in the dark may very well be worth not having to deal with Cashman I agree.

I'll take on the toxicity of a thousand midwestern rivers if i can save this fanbase from this god awful management.

Morokovitz said during the game Cole's getting a second opinion and won't hear anything until at least tomorrow. I already feel Cole's first doctor said TJS.

Yeah feel like there would be no need for a 2nd opinion if otherwise.

Plus the Yankees reaching back out for Cease.

All signs point to surgery and the back years of the Cole deal now look even harder to swallow...

Wow an injury to our pitching rotation. Good thing this was totally foreseeable to our FO and we prepared adequately for this possibility

Absolutely. Because that's what a healthy, functioning ball club would be in the event of the obvious happening.

Let's now check in with our team's CEO, Harold "Hal" Steinbrenner, for his response to today's totally unforseen circumstances:

Oh.

Meanwhile Hal and Cashman sit back and laugh at the sheeple fans who criticize them, yet still support the team with their wallets.

Another successful season is already in the books once those season ticket orders start debiting from fans' checking accounts. Everything else? Lmao

Hoch's tweet is optimistic. Most believe he'll definitely miss the start of the season and likely the first several weeks as well.

Read on Twitter

Yankees looking for roster cuts and castoffs to fill DJL spot as starting 3B. Rumors are the Yankees are interested in this guy who just opted out of his minor league deal with the Reds.

Image

Other guys that could also shake free soon that can play 3B include:

Brian Anderson (minor league contract with M's) - former ROY candidate
Mike Moustakas (minor league contract with CHW) - Moose
Jean Segura (FA) - 2 time All-Star
Kevin Newman (minor league contract with ARZ)
Evan Longoria (FA) - still not sure if he wants to play (oldest guy on the list but experienced, great locker room leader, still can produce just not in large numbers of AB's)

I'm sure Cashman will dumpster dive and bring in some weak hitting scrub who has the most important attribute of being cheap.

Honestly, f*ck the Yankees. It's not really fun rooting for them anymore because they are clearly not committed to winning.

It's the tax bill. I saw something this morning that the Snell deal with the Giants would have cost the team over 95+ mil when you factor in tax. Hal let Cashman f*ck this club six ways sideways and there's no way out of it.

The other players know too. That’s the sad thing. Sure, we’ll do enough to “compete” but that’s basically it.

In other news...

Read on Twitter

Bauer apparently doing his very best to be seen by the Yanks (and other major league teams) by signing with whatever team is going to be playing against a major league team before the season starts. He signed a one game deal to pitch for the Asian Breeze against the Dodgers last week and will pitch one game for the Diablos Rojas when they play the Yankees in an exhibition game in Mexico.

This was blurbs about how he did against the Dodgers minor league team (which included several members on the Dodgers 40-man roster):

Bauer hitting 99 mph on the radar gun several times, dominating a Dodgers minor league team that included three players on their 40-man roster including prized prospects in outfielder Andy Pages (who produced the only clean hit), and catchers Diego Cartaya and Hunter Feduccia.

He struck out four of the 12 batters he faced on a split-fingered fastball, retired the last eight, and even toyed with Feduccia for the final out by having fans next to the bench call his pitches, with Bauer letting everyone know what was coming.

That letting the fans call the pitch they want him to throw and him throwing it was hilarious.

Yankees offered him $150 million+/5 or 6 years. Even if he has another great year, he'll be 32 when he opts out next year. It's still possible he gets the same short type of offers and regret turning down the Yankees earlier this offseason.

150M over 6 vs 62m over 2?

I would take 62m over 2. Let me get that money now and see what happens next offseason.
