I would find this funny if these type of people didn't vote the people in charge who have ruined the city - including more crime.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

No sir. I'm a bougie New Jerseyan we only deal with snow all this shaking and baking isn't for me

Haha fair enough

FYI, 2004 9.1 - 9.3 earthquake in Indonesia was one of the most destructive in history, with an estimated 227,898 dead and tsunamis in Indonesia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka.

Some of ya'll might be a little young for that, but thankfully most of the US apart from California is spared form that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake_and_tsunami

I remember that. Absolutely horrific.

We would be so screwed over here in NY/NJ/CT if we get hit with anything a few notches higher on the scale. We can't handle hurricanes, we definitely can't handle a massive quake.

I felt it in Mid Jersey - across from Staten Island. My brother felt it in South Jersey. East Coast rock is good at carrying quakes long distance. People felt it as far as Boston I've heard.

It's not a NYC quake, The epicenter was near the Appalachians in Western NJ. It was a mild shaking of my house for me. Wasn't sure what it was at first, then I figured it was probably an Earthquake. It got my cats attention too.

I lived on an island with an active volcano for a few years as a kid . People use to go up to the country side and hold cookouts near the volcano. That ain’t for everybody dude. The volcano actually erupted a few years ago.

It’s ok for NYers to react bc we don’t get them like that. It’s easy to assume an explosion from something random causing the shake.

Stuff like this freaks me out. I've been on the 29th floor of a swaying skyscraper before. Not a good time.

I didn't feel a thing here in South Brooklyn. I didn't know anything happened until I began receiving alerts and texts from friends.

Remember that movie of the tsunami hitting NY?

A stronger quake and it's not as unrealistic as people thought. We just had a pandemic. You can have your own beliefs, but stuff like that just doesn't happen out of the blue.

Felt it too. Apparently its not considered an aftershock and is a different Earthquake due to a different location...

Hopefully not foreshocks to a bigger event.

The threat of old buildings collapsing if this area gets hit with a serious magnitude quake is probably more realistic than a tsunami hitting NYC due to the lack of subduction zones in the Atlantic.

I'm no expert though i just looked that up on Google because I was curious. Seems like it would take something catastrophic to wipe NYC out, like an asteroid hitting the Atlantic.
