Vasilieos Spanoulis a KNICKS!?!?!?

Post#1 » by unclebear » Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:48 am

The word in Poland amongst NBA scouts that are at the EuroBasket tournament is that the New York Knicks want Vasilieos Spanoulis to be their new starting point guard.

Here is his EuroBasket profile:

http://www.eurobasket2009.org/en/cid... mID_291.html

As you can see he has excellent stats and is among the tournament leaders in numerous statistical categories at the highest level of European basketball which is the EuroBasket.

Here is a youtube clip of him (Euroleague MVP and against Team USA):

Why make a title like this and provide no sources whatsoever? Who are you? Poland? Where is the link? NBA scouts? Whose word? C'mon man, get with the program.

Do they recycle this news or something? Because we keep hearing it over and over and over again. It's time to put it in the garbage.

The last thread on this guy lasted a while and was actually pretty funny.

I think the quote got cut short, here's the full text from the original article.

The word in Poland amongst NBA scouts that are at the EuroBasket tournament is that the New York Knicks want Vasilieos Spanoulis to be their new starting point guard once hell freezes over.

here's the guys link (no idea about the rumor)

linky

"Kill Bill" had NBA dreams too, and probably the potential to succeed there. Although Vassilis Splanoulis had imagined his first experience in the NBA in a different way, the league proved to be a tough lesson in his career. The 27-year-old spent most of his time on the bench in Houston, but never stopped working to improve his game. Back in Europe, he wants to prove that his nickname suited him well, winning everything possible in Greece (two Cups, two Championships) and even a Euroleague trophy during the past two seasons. Spanoulis was also one of the key players in Greece's victory over Team USA in Japan in 2006. Deadly from three-point range as much as he's "clutch", Vassilis shared the leadership of the national team with Diamantidis, in Beijing last summer, and also was the scoring leader (14.4 points per game with 53.1% from the field). This time, without "the diamond" and Papaloukas, coach Kazlauskas will rely on him 100% to lead a young Greece towards the podium.

So, he's been in the NBA already, just didn't play much.

But, I like the "deadly from three point range" bit. He might be worth a look.

His NBA numbers aren't pretty, but considering he played 270 minutes, perhaps not much to worry about.

I think, in the end, I'll believe this when I see it.

What's funny is that the first post in this thread is a carbon copy of this post here:

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showth ... p?t=146838

but, maybe unclebear and lakas fan yo are the same person (or maybe Lakas copied it from Uncle - so I don't want to draw any unfair conclusions. Just that the posts are identicle, which is kinda funny.

Walsh seems to feel that the pg situation is our primary need. I'm not going to disagree. With darko and curry coming in the pg spot seems a top priority.

spanoulis, pruit and yue are all excellent cheap options with great upside potentialand some impressive experience.

Good for is if there is truth to this. spanoulis starting is bs of course but bringing him in on a 1yr deal would be a no lose situation

Your like a broken record. How is this guy still a mod? All his post clearly are to troll. I would at least respect the man if he actually engaged in meaningful discussions.

From on old article regarding Spanoulis' time with the Rockets and his lack of playing time....

Van Gundy was in a contract year and the rookie was turnover prone. The two feuded over playing time and Van Gundy once said, "He says, 'I was McGrady back home.' Great. McGrady is McGrady here."

Good find. Seems like the attitude problem that others have said that he had are true. What JVG said was hilarious though.
