Specifically, throwing a max rookie extension to MPJ is the gateway to cap hell … most media were projecting same for McDaniels - but MINN happened to win this time.

There are 43 maxed players on 30 teams, and Denver has 3 of them. 2 of them are non all-stars and maybe not in the top 10 at their position.

The rebounding thing is inexcusable. They got wallop on the boards. Game was winnable in the 4th, they were forcing misses but Minny dominated the offensive boards and broke them.

Re: NBA Playoffs Thread (non-Magic games discussion)
Denver won a championship though.
Like yeah, they're dealing with cap issues now, but they cashed in a ring and ultimately that's a trade off you make 100 times out of 100.
Minnesota is going to be in absolute cap hell starting next year too. Just the nature of the beast.
The Wolves have 183.6M committed to 9 players on next year's books. Even if they go minimum salary on their final five players (which they maybe do since they have a 1st round pick this year), they're gonna be approaching the 2nd apron.

I think the Magic have only been in the luxury tax one season in our history. Golden State has been paying the tax for about a decade.

You can't be true contender without salary cap hell, whole system is made to lead you there, no matter how you build that roster.

We, and the national media, would all be having the exact same conversation about MIN if they lost. Trade boards lighting up with Murray moves...pump the brakes everybody.
We still might be if MIN doesn't win it all, despite Ant breaking out at 22

Did anyone else think AG looked checked out and ready to go home by the 3rd quarter???
I didn't watch the 1st half, but I could tell they were going to lose then.

They won a championship because of it though. I would do that as well.

Not sure MPJ was the reason…or that they would have been outbid with less

hindsight is 20/20 - MPJ had excellent season before signing the rookie max - his best one so far - 19 points on 45% 3pt shooting from a 22y old 6'10 player with good defense, then good playoffs, then signing a contract and getting injured...

I wont lie, I'm envious of the Pacers
To think we couldve been the 6th seed if the tie breaker went differently and we got to play hobbled teams

I think Pacers have bee underrated a bit. Got lucky with injuries but their offense is miles better than ours while also improving on defense. They're not as bad as some people have tried to paint them as.

Our team can't shoot. We wouldn't take advantage like the Pacers because they have better shooters.

Pacers totally choked this game. I wouldve been sick if I was a Pacers fan.

They probably feel the same way we did after our Game 7.

For sure, their defense has been improved and having Rick at the helm with his experience has helped the Pacers when it comes to series adjustments etc
Seen a stat that said the Pacers have led the league in full court presses in the playoffs by a wide margin, something the Pacers can pull off befause theyre deep amd well conditioned and thus wear a team out throughout a series
