What if they view Suggs and AB as redundant?

Then they'll move AB. Sorry pal.

Is Simons a building block for the Trailblazers?

I can't wrap my brain around trading real assets for Simons when Monk is just sitting right there waiting to be signed.

I know you're not a Suggs guy, but giving up Suggs for Murray is a total non-starter for me.

Suggs did a lot to make me feel better about him this year, but I don't see him becoming a better player than Murray.

Pulling of a trade for Murray makes our offseason plan easy and clear.

Trade for: Dejounte Murray - Do it all PG
Sign: Klay Thompson - Floor spacing
Draft: Kyle Filipowski or Zach Edey - Fills need for size to match up w/MIN/DEN/BOS/PHI

PG Dejounte Murray
SG Klay Thompson
SF Franz Wagner
PF Paolo Banchero
C Wendell Carter Jr

BN: / Anthony Black / Cole Anthony / Jett Howard / Caleb Houstan / Jonathan Isaac / Mo Wagner / Filipowski or Edey

He’s already a better player?

That's not what I'm smokin'

Simons shoots better from 3 at a higher volume. I think he has better offensive potential. Simons is smoother on offense.

Suggs is better than Murray was at his age.
Maybe he stops here at 22, having reached his final form, maybe he keeps improving, what is your bet?

100% of this forum hopes he improves.

But if you wanna bet me that Suggs will ever have a season like Murray did in his 5th year in SAN, where he averaged 21 pgg, 9.2 apg, 8.3 rpg and 2.0 spg, then I'll gladly take that bet.

I do think both Monk and Simons are 6th man Tyler Herro type players.

34-48 record for SAS this season. And Murray scored his points on .533 TS%.
If Suggs is forced as a first option while we are bottom dwellers he can get similar numbers probably. I hope the team doesnt have the chance to prove me right:)

No to Trae Young and no to Simons. Why? Because we have Malik Monk who can't wait to be signed to a team this summer as a free agent. Simons will probably cost of 1 or 2 FRP plus young players. Why would we do that? No to Trae Young also. Big usage rate on offense plus no defense. Plain and simple

Look: if this offseason is to reup Ingles, Isaac, and M-Wagner, resign Bitadze, draft an upperclassman in Carter, and then use the cap space to sign Monk, I would call that "Job well Done"

Suggs/Black/D-Carter
Monk/Anthony/Howard
F-Wagner/Ingles/Houstan
Banchero/Isaac
W-Carter/M-Wagner/Bitadze

This is the low-bar of the off-season. And even in this, the team is better. Personally I'd like to see Anthony (and another asset?) traded for a more classic back-up SG in htis roster. And a vet combo-forward would be nice.

I personally don't like the roster, but it is better than the 2023/24 roster.

Yea. I’ve come to terms with Monk being the best option for us. We need movement shooters bad although I think Klay is absolutely WASHED…

It would be a detrimental mistake for the Magic to go into the offseason with the goal of "just being better than last season". We could easily end up with long term contracts that cement us into mediocrity. Good, but not great.

The out of left field move is going to be Cole getting the starting spot.

Then factor in availability. Last 3 years Monk has played in 75 games per season, while Simons has played 55.

Only reason Simons gets more hype if because he plays more minutes. Give me Monk with his energy and athleticism to add to this team. I can already imagine how fun a Suggs-Monk backcourt will be. I really believe his defense will be fine on this team.

Simons has been on a tanking team.

Im not going to assume he's healthy if he's not playing, and they've listed him out with injuries :dontknow:

Are you telling me the guy just willingly sits out 30 games every season? Has he lost his competitive spirit? Sounds like someone I dont want on my team. Give me the guy that tries to play and plays to win every game. Comes off the bench willingly even when playing behind worse players like Huerter, and doesnt complain just because his coach thinks its best.
