I would agree with the 3 tiers, but the MWC and WAC may be third tier as well.

Maybe not the WAC. Their top end is good.......

And you forgot Auburn in the SEC list. They're a top-10 team. Unless AU is Auburn, in which case you forgot 'bama.

I'm sure he meant Auburn.

I meant Auburn...would they be UA?

Regardless, I purposely left off Alabama. They're overrated.

Alabama will make some noise, but they aren't well rounded enough yet...especially defensively to contend. If they finished in the top 20, that would be a major accomplishment.

It's not impossible though, and their key will be to get great play from JPW at QB, to help overcome obvious weaknesses.

Next year might be different, and in 2010 expect them to make a run towards prominence if Saban doesn't get sick of Tuscaloosa first. (He might)

Pick 3 upsets this week using the spread. The picks are straight up, and no spread is factored in when the game is played. Lets see who is lucky/good.

One upset pick must have a 3.5 spread or lower, one must be 9.5 or lower, and the third must a a 10 or higher spread.

For mine I'll take:

Auburn over LSU (-2.5) low game
NC St over ECU (-7) Middle game
UCF over Boston College (-10) high game

So, wait...we're not factoring the spread? Meaning, if I pick Penn State to win but not cover the spread that doesn't count? It'd only count if Penn lost?

Just confirming...

If I understood correctly, how bout I show no faith in my conference?

low: Iowa over Pittsburgh (-1.5)
middle: Navy over Rutgers (-4.5)
high: Miami over Cincinatti (-12)

BTW - I hope NC St does not 'upset' ECU (hard to take ECU seriously still...) because USF plays them next week and I'd really like them to have no confidence with an 0-3 record. The team isn't an 0-3 team, but I want them to believe they are against USF since we play them on the road.

You are picking underdogs only....and the spread doesn't matter

One close dog ....3.5 or less
One middle dog.....9.5 to 4
One high dog....10 point spread or more

Just looking for upsets, and using the spread is only for categorizing the 3 picks.

I hope I explained that right.

We need ECU to win out till they come to bright house that way if by some miracle we do beat them we can crack the rankings... a man can hope right?

If you guys do what happened last year after losing to USF (you went undefeated) and you beat ECU in that streak, you guys may warrant a ranking (assuming ECU doesn't crash and burn).

I found a hilarious quote about OSU being overrated

Which goes to show the perversity of preseason polls and their effect on subsequent rankings. The Buckeyes currently are ranked 14th in the USA Today coaches' poll -- the one that matters in the BCS standings, and the one in which the ballots are kept secret until the end. Someone please enlighten The Dash: What has Ohio State done thus far to warrant a top-15 ranking ahead of South Florida (20) and East Carolina (21)? Other than the fact that it began the season there?

Louisville's fan base has been calling for Kragthorpe's head, but Petrino left that place a ticking time bomb that went.......BOOOOOOOOM.

UL has had to boot about 20 of BP's kids off the team.........and it takes time to regroup.
