Those 2nd round picks will be garbage, atleast this is better than trading them away for cash considerations.

Can we not still trade that pick at some point? A first with the option to swap is more appealing than a first without the option. So If it’s something that can be traded down the road, they simply traded bad seconds to add value to a first that can then be flipped for a piece we’ve determined we need by that point. Seems like good asset management to me.

Those are likely to be pretty bad 2nd round picks…. But we probably gave up pretty good 2nd picks to get those…

This is a great angle. We've effectively increased the value of our 2026 pick with this trade. Makes it an even more attractive asset. The trade before the TRADE?

Haha I’m surprised no one else has mentioned this

Where these picks actually came from dictates how one should grade this trade IMO

A lot can happen in three years.

Durant will be 37 years old, ya know?

Gee whiz, this front office doesn't value 2nd rounders at all. I guess it certainly possible that the Suns implode between now and then, but with the Wizards getting first dibs, kind of minimizes that outcome.

At this point I don't really care if they move all the 2nds, at least then i won't waste my time worrying about who we can (won't) take. Maybe when our payroll is maxed they will use 2nds to fill out the roster.

The Denver 2024 2nd was acquired for Mo Bamba.

The protected 2028 2nd from Boston was acquired with Bol Bol.

It's possible the 2026 2nd will have been acquired for a 2nd during The Draft though.

The Magic can still trade it.

If the Magic move up one draft slot, that's easily worth three second round picks.

So: the Suns has 11 players on a min deal and six second round picks.

This is the future of having so many maxed out players.

The Magic are banking on this falling apart in the next few years. I wouldnt be shocked if they are right. Maybe by then we have enough assets to bring Booker over :)

Lighten up Francis.

The 2nd rounders the Magic gave up belong to Denver, Milwaukee and Boston fwiw. They’re all probably going to be 50 or later.

For the 2025/26 season, the Suns has signed four players only, contracted for $197,979,692. That is, Phoenix is 20 million over the luxury cap in 2025/26 before they sign 11 players to min contracts.

For pepe: the MLE in the 2034/35 season will be $21,095,000; on a luxury cap projected for $280,170,000.

The Suns were trash not that long ago so yes that's what they are gambling on. We'll see what happens, either way appreciate the low risk gamble.

Eh... we would have sold them anyway or punted them. At least this way its something new than hearing someone say * cash considerations* again. They aren't even ours.
