3 point shooting isn't magic pill, but once you make open shots, it opens driving lines that don't exist if nobody can shoot.
Defenders close in, that puts them on high heels and allows offensive players to attack off the dribble, once you break first line of defense ,rest of a defense normally crumbles and you can either find another open man or finish yourself.

When you watch random kids/people / even pros play 3 v 3 street ball, teams that can't shoot just have situations where even best players look like scrubs because 5 people stand around rim , you can't attack a rim with so many bodies. When people in street ball can shoot, it feels like 1 on 1 game, because other defenders stay out on perimeter, glued to their assigments, and great driver looks like Lebron.

In pro basketball it's even more clear, because you have 9 bodies ( + handler) . If 9 people stand in 15 feet space around rim, i don't care are you Lebron, prime Westbrook, prime Jordan or Hakeem or Shaq, you won't ever score easly because you will have 6 even 8 hands around going for a ball, pushing, shoving, forcing contact, and you will simply have no space to create force for drive.

3 point shooting itself helps you remove people from paint, allowing rest of offense to be easier to unlock.

Nuggets are great example how you don't even need to make those shots, to have better offense with great shooters & ball movment. 5-28 for 3. Won game easly. In fear of Murray, MPjr, KCP, Lakers would overcommit to shooters and exposed themeslfs to like 40 points worth of layups & dunks.

Image

Just a little nugget on fear of movment and spacing. 4 Lakers players don't have eyes on ballhandler nor ball, they are on such high alert of movment that they don't even follow most important part - damn ball.
Because Davis has no clue what's going on, another person can't see sh** behind Jokic, Porter gets wide open dunk on set defense in 4th quater of must win game in playoffs. And Murray's man is taken out of defense because he is chasing Murray 28 feet from rim. He is pretty much usless for team defense if ball isn't in Murray's hands and Murray isn't target on that offensive set.

Btw imo, Knicks should trade Randle in offseason, they are so much better without him.

Indy gonna be making Milwaukee sweat if they can take this one too. Might force Giannis back early. Don’t think they’ll want to risk going down 3-1.

Middleton coming through CLUTCH to tie that game up with 1.4 seconds left.

Siakam’s shot at the buzzer looked good too. OT gonna be fun.

I know all his buckets are easy and assisted by Luka, but we probably shouldve picked Dereck Lively. Yes we needed shooting, but we also needed a guy like him. He wouldnt have gotten the playing time he's getting in Dallas, but long term he wouldve been nice to have.

I figured they'd win the series and end up getting all the attention for upcoming young teams.

Good thing I don't care about who gets all the attention! 8-)

Their best player since the trade has been 30 year old Siakam. Sure Hali and Ben are young but as a team theyre not that young when compared to the Magic.

Well defended up front. Successfully blocked from the back. And fouled on the head during the shot release.

HOW in the frack did Haliburton get the shot in.

It is my humble opinion that Tyrese Haliburton is a good basketball player.

That trade with Phoenix this offseason is really going to pay for The Magic in 2026.

The Swap right for the least favorable of Phoenix and Washington's 1st should net the Magic at least 10 spots in the Draft.

For 3 future 2nds that will be between 46-60 each year.

Great move by Jeff Weltman.

Livley scored 10 points in first two games. Combined.
Gafford has 11 points in 3 games. Total.

Through 3 games, one of Clippers best players is Zubac, who is steamrolling through them (17 ppg, 12 rpg, 58% FG).

Clippers have issues with Kawhi & Goerge being pretty meh on offense. ( Funny enough, Doncic is playing great defense on both ).

Phoenix is a great example why its almost impossible to win without a point guard and rim protector. They have all the shot makers and yet their offense is unstable and bad. Thats what happens when you cant score easy points and you cant prevent easy points.
All of that is reason why i smile when i read the most important thing we need is another shooting guard.
Only shooting guards i would consider are those elite at pick and roll like Booker, Mitchell, but even they are on teams who struggle offensively in the play offs the most.
I thought about including Suggs into Young trade but seeing that he is the beating heart of our team (not for the first time) i would be very reluctant to do that. Ideally we will have more games where we dominate Cavs and showcase Black and Howard.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

The Knicks players are irritants, and they started whining when Embiid gave it back. The Knicks do everything they can get away with and flop a lot.
