Why the hell didn't Orlando trade their expirings for Gasol?

Yes, they got a nice point guard.

But the draft picks they got back are going to be late in the draft. I don't know how much they get out of that.

They're not going to keep Kwame long term.


The trade didn't improve Memphis at all. The point was that Gasol was going to leave, and thus, Memphis must no rebuild. There, you start with young players and draft picks.

What Memphis did was ensure they will not have a winning season for the next four years. But, such is life.
