Dalembert would be a good fit in Atlanta, Phoenix & Toronto, IMHO.

Perhaps in a package for Smith from Atl? Nesterovic's expiring and others from Tor? Calderon if TJ proves healthy?

Dalembert could be a hot commodity at the dealine. An athletic C, great helpside D. His presence alone on D could be a boost for a lot of conending teams.

Plus, teams tend to pay through the nose for size, like pitching in baseball.

I think Atlanta would be hard pressed to take on sam's salary, with their ownership situation and all. Has that been really resolved yet?

Some Toronto fans threw out the trade of Sam for Rasho, Dixon (expiring) and a first rounder (or Joey Graham). Is that even enough in return for Sam?

Raps deal

Post#24 » by Mahorn at the 4 » Sat Jan 12, 2008 5:12 pm

Rasho, Dixon, Graham for Dalembert works. But, we would need at least a first thrown in. Graham may be the type of player that just needs an opportunity.

I would like to explore it further, to somehow add Calderon. But, with the added cap space, we could easily chase Calderon in the offseason. Also, since the Raptors have a big contract tied up in Ford, would they match a good offer to Calderon?

I have no interest in Rasho, and he still has one more year left on his deal. I wouldn't do it.

I'm not totally opposed to trading Sam.

But not for this.

we'd need a pick because then we can get out center of the future with that pick ( or our PG of the future which ever comes first). I'd do it.

He has a player option for next year, which he will exercise.

Dbodner,

Thanks for pointing that out. Rasho would definitely not get that $$$ otherwise.

If the Sixers could get a half-decent center making about $5-6m/year, along with an expiring contract, I'd do it. Might even consider throwing in Utah's 1st. But this could be easier said than done.

08 Dalembert vs 00 Ratliff

Post#32 » by sixersinsider » Sat Jan 12, 2008 10:19 pm

Dalembert stock is very high in 08.Great buisness minds sell when when stock is high. How much smarter can sammy d get.
I personally would move him the utah pick reggie evans and willie green to chicago for (ben wallace tyrus thomas and gray) One of the sixers greatest Heist was the mckie ratliff deal that deal layed the foundation for them to be in position to play the lakers. Sammy 08 vs Ratliff 00
1 Better shotblocker ........Sammy.....
2 Better offence. ........Sammy........
3 Better defence.....Theo......
4 Better rebounder....Theo was stronger...
5 Higher IQ . ......Theo.....
6 who would you want on the court when it was MONEY TIME
4 Better rebounder  :wavefinger: :banghead: [/quote]

Sammy's playing extremely well, as good as a Theo. That's why I am extremely hesistant to move him. Listening to offers and considering offers are two entirely different things IMO.

I liked Theo and what he brought to the game, but he never averaged more than 8.3 RPG for the Sixers...you may want to at least put that category as a push.

You want to have Ben Wallace on this team for 14M/ year until he is 37 years old?

Aaron Gray is just a 2nd round 7 ft body that can't play on a running team and TT has some potential- but vthat doesn't mitigate paying 14M a year to a player that could be retired before we make the playoffs.

What do you think about

Kirilenko for Dalembert (and Ollie)

or

Okur (and Price) for Dalembert?

Would they fit into your future plans?
Kirilenko is athletic. Okur would be good complement to a big man who is great shotblocker (say Brand).

AK is big time overpaid- on the books for nearly 50M for the next 3 seasons. His contract makes what Iguodala will be offered a bargain. I want to spend our money on a big man who can score in the post- not a great off the ball defender who is not much of an offensive threat.

I believe I'm in the minority of Wolves fans who think Dally would be a good fit in MN (I thought the same thing last year, before we traded KG).

What about one of the following two packages:

1) Build a deal around Dally and Theo's large expiring contract. Inexpensive assets MN might add include Gerald Green, Craig Smith, Ryan Gomes, or a 2009 #1 pick from Boston. If we give up Theo's contract I dont think we'd be willing to take back salaries like Green or Evans.

2) Build a deal around Toine Walker (one year remaining after this season) and Marko Jaric (this year +3). Not as attractive as Theo's contract, but in this case I think we'd be willing to take back either Green or Evans. We could also talk about adding any of the above inexpensive players to entice you.

A couple comments -

The reason MN might be willing to part with any or all of Green, Gomes, and Smith is that they expire after this year and if we take back a lot of salary, we probably wouldnt be able to resign them. Philly acquiring them midseason this year allows you a cheap preview before signing them to lengthy contracts. Green's potential has been untapped for the most part, but Gomes and Smith will really have some value somewhere.

Walker typically isnt perceived to have a lot of value, but I'll say two things about him: 1, he's been a model citizen/mentor to the young players in MN and 2, he becomes a $9 million expiring contract next season, which will definitely be an asset to a team looking to deal.
