HAHA An Amare trade to the Sixers was buried last month....it's been 6 feet under for about 3 weeks, and for the past 2 weeks, Ed has been sending minions from Hell to dig up to the grave and bring it all the way down. 2 nights ago, Hades' minions broke through to the grave and dragged that trade to hell.

ExplosionsInDaSky wrote:As minor of a deal as it seems right now I do like Jodie Meeks and have high hopes for him in the future. I know a lot hate Jodie Meeks but I will say that when given minutes he's averaged close to 10 ppg as a rookie. I think if Meeks wants to improve he can. If he puts in the work he can get better. He can already shoot the ball which is a plus. He can score which is a plus. If he can get better in other aspects of his game I think he'll be a positive player for this team. A year of seasoning and momentum going into a second season and who knows he might pan out. Meeks has already gotten some NBA experience in his rookie year so that is a plus as well. We all want our second round pick this year, but we all wanted it last June as well. If I remember correctly a lot of us wanted Jodie Meeks in the second round. So be happy and be positive people. You cry for moves and then cry about the move made.
Getting Meeks was basically adding a potential producing shooting guard which is what we need. Meeks now will have the opportunity to audition for some minutes here going into next season. I am not saying he's the answer to our problems at shooting but I am saying that he will have a fair shot at keeping a job here. Lets see what he does for "US" before whining about how bad he is.
As for Elson... I'd rather have Elson than Brezec. Elson can rebound, and Elson can defend. Two things that Prezec cannot do.

Explosion is in love with Jodie Meeks. Clear indicator we have a legend coming in....

Be positive, right?

So we traded for Jodie Meeks... they know Morris Almond is in the NBDL and available, right? 28 ppg and 38% 3 pt shooting. I doubt Meeks is a better player.

But we did not need a high 2nd round pick this summer. I mean a player like De'andre Jordan won't fall into our lap... at least not if we give away our 2nd round pick every year.

Not a big deal by any measure, but not a good deal either. I was actually mildly pleased when I thought we were receiving a 2nd round pick. But I should have known better.

Ed cubed, we are not worthy.

TK, this thread should be remembered when a good center prospect falls where the Sixers would have picked.

Is Dalembert staying? ugh. I'm just gonna drop Speights from my fantasy league team. Sixers are stupid

could have had Lou Williams, Holiday, Speights, Budinger and a top 5 pick to build around. maybe even used T-mac in a sign and trade in the offseason for a first round pick.

To ease off the sarcasm pedal some...I'm cool with waiting 'til the summer to do something. I knew it would be hell to rid of these salaries. But what got me is Stefanski purposely stuck our main players out there. And then, proceeded to stick his thumbs up his backside.

Like I said before, Stefanski's mind goes with the wind. No plan. No purpose.

So please, forgive a die hard fan for being somewhat peeved about Jodie Freakin' Meeks. Nothing against him. Hope Meeks prospers. But I do have a gripe with the chowder head that traded for him.

No problem with any of that. I have no issue with taking a flier on a prospect like Meeks, but the real problem that needs to be resolved is finding a competent coach and hopefully a better GM. At that point, I would love for them to evaluate who should stay and who should go. I may at least feel better that someone more competent is making the decisions. In the end, if the new guy determines that Iguodala must go, I can live with that, but would feel better if I had more confidence in the guy doing the dealing, particularly when there is no deadline to get it done, other than before the season begins.

Like I said before however, if Jordan is still here, none of it matters.

No.... Not in love with Jodie Meeks. Just happy to have another young prospect on the team. And one that can actually knock shots down from outside. I thought Meeks was the second best outside shooter in last Junes draft. We need shooters, we need young guards to audition for next season as this season is purely lost, and Meeks is just that. Never said he was our savior or anything like that. I simply posted his game stats per 15min plus which aren't that bad for a rookie, and I get this arrogant sarcasm in return. I personally don't care if you are happy with the trade or not. I know I am. I personally don't care if you die tomorrow either. I was just stating that I liked Jodie Meeks coming out of college. I said nothing about him that was unrealistic, nor did I say I was in love with him. I simply backed the trade.
Right now we are a team of great athletes that know nothing about the actual fundamentals of the game outside of Elton Brand, and Jrue Holiday. These players can all run fast, and jump high but we need fundamentally sound players. I think Meeks is a fundamentally sound player even for a rookie, and can be a good rotation man for our team. Better than Willie Green.

And we could've gotten Ronnie Brewer for a protected 1st rounder.

I have to say that after reading the Bucks Board and their thoughts on Meeks... I'm not expecting much from this kid.

What, no Royal Ivey appreciation thread?

Greatest defensive specialist/3 pt threat since Manute Bol. Image

Amd now that Primoz is gone, who will tutor our young bigs in the art of volleyball? What ever happened to the value of veteran leadership?

And now 2/4ths of the vaunted Green Ivey Christmas Holiday special is gone... and nobody seems to care.
