For me, the biggest boom or bust move is Zach Edey. Can be this draft’s Giannis or Bruno Cabuclo.

Edey will be fine.
being that huge alone brings value even if in a part time role off the bench

Seems like a weird comparison for a skilled 22 year old.

I will never buy into a European wing. Sorry, Zaccharie Risacher and whoever drafts him.

Bigger, potentially better Melton. Could be a great fit beside Maxey as a backcourt starter that does all the little things and takes the toughest assignment on D. Would be very happy to get him at #16 as it appears his stock is on the rise.

Oh, I wasn't comparing them based on age or skillset. What I mean is I think Edey could either become a dominant star like Giannis or a journeyman like Caboclo.
I don't see Edey's lateral defense as significantly worse compared to Gobert or Brook Lopez.
Edey can also shoot threes (he shot 56% on the predraft event), catch lobs, and attack in the post.
It's a matter of where he lands. If a team drafts him high and can play to his strengths while hiding his weaknesses (maybe playing for the Celtics with multiple defense and spacing), he can have a promising career.
If the Charlotte Hornets selected Jokic and had overlooked him due to his lack of above-the-rim game and his defense to compliment LaMelo Ball, he might not have become a superstar.
I'm not saying he'd be a guaranteed success; the fact that he's a senior despite his numbers is something to be cautious about. We’ve seen Adam Morrison and Jimmer Fredette, there’s a future where Edey could join the club.

I don't understand vetoing players because of their nationality, when the best players in the competition are foreigners (Jokic-European, Shai-Canada, Doncic-European, Anteto-European), the rookie of the year is also European, and the best and most intelligent small forward the Sixers had this season is European (Batum), despite his age.
And don't forget that Embiid is also a foreigner, although not European.

I don't have veto power, so don't worry too much about it.

What are you on about, bro.

I like Risacher; he's at the top of my mock draft, and he has all the tools to be a star wing in the league. There's a good chance he can be as good as someone like Franz Wagner.
However, there's still a lot of development needed and a range of outcomes regarding his potential.

SGA, Embiid and Jokic are my favorite European wings

can't back this up with any real stats but it feels like most of the euro success guys were actually good over there and not projection as of recently.

Completely hypothetical, but let’s say the Spurs were taking calls on trading pick #8 for future capital and it’s a guarantee Knecht is there…what would you be willing to give up?

Not a fair question for me after watching him all season and because I'm biased. I'd love to see him here and he would clearly fit like a glove, but Morey made a point of not counting on rookies to contribute immediately. I honestly believe that he could, he's a super mature, hard working kid who is as old as Maxey. Those two in the gym would be something to see.

Re: 2023-2024 College Basketball / NBA Draft
Zach Edey continues putting up great numbers at the combine. If he's available with our #16 pick we have to take him as the far and away BPA.
He could finally solve the bleeding in the non-Embiid mins and help Jo get tons more rest during the season. And if he shows out could turn into a valuable trade chip.

If he's there at 16, he should absolutely be the pick. He's too good of a fit for this team. I think he's going to rise up the boards as the draft gets closer. He's going to be a very good pro in my opinion.

Nikola Topić and Nikola Djurisic are the only international players I'm comfortable with because both played starter's minutes and scored 15+mpg.
