Game 6: Sixers (2-3) vs. Knicks (3-2) | Thu May 2 9:00 PM (EST) TV: TNT

So my streak as a game thread creator is still alive (3-0), thanks to Maxey for unbelievable performance in Game 5.

I feel we will win this one with both Embiid and Maxey having decent games. But I'd say role players step up in this one.

Let's go Sixers! Please do better then last's year Game 6 in Philly against Boston.

P.S. I'm not watching this game live because I've got a ton of work to do. I'll get back here as soon as I'll watch replay on Friday.

Do you guys think Nurse should give Hield another shot or just stick with Payne?

Also what should be done about the Embiidless mins? He obviously needs his rest.
Should we go small/ 5 out with Batum at the 5 even with the reb issues?

Gotta try Council or KMjr. to get some energy and rebounding in there. Could also try Reed with Embiid but that scares me too.

I still believe Buddy will have a moment before this is all said and done. Payne has to be first, he has earned that, but if it isn't working with him Nick has to adjust quickly with everything on the line.

I'm a strong advocate for playing small ball when Embiid sits, and he should sit a minimum of 4 minutes per half, preferably staggering the 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th quarters to take advantage of the extra stoppages. It's been nothing short of a disaster with Reed, and we can't risk another one.

I think Nurse should severely cut Lowry's minutes. If that means more Payne or Hield or whomever, so be it. Also, try Mo Bamba instead of Reed. Bamba might not be better than Reed, but we know Reed isn't cutting it this series.

Funny thing is, even with all the drama and craziness the series is simply back 'on serve', as if both teams had won all their home games and we were still waiting for the first 'break'. They stole a game, and we stole a game, and now it's just a matter of holding home court then trying to steal game 7.

I wonder if it would be helpful to run more playing time with Payne alongside Embiid but without Maxey. This way, we could keep Maxey fresh enough to lead the offense during the minutes when Embiid is not on the court.

Yea I don't want to see Reed subbing in for Embiid. We have seen enough.

Other than Batum at the 5 I also thought about Bamba possibly playing the stretch 5 to pull out their bigs from the paint. My concern with Bamba is will he be able to match their physicality?. We know his motor is in the basement.

9:00, are you f***king kidding? I hate these late starts. 7:00 is the perfect start time, but then I watch them delayed to avoid halftime and commercials, so there's that.

I like Bamba over Reed if and only if Mitchell Robinson is on the bench. Bamba can not handle his physicality, but can hang with Hartenstein or Achiuwa. His length would be a much better deterrent than Reed.

The problem with embiid less minutes is not that Maxey not taking over is that opposing teams double and trap Maxey because no one else can capitalize on the space Maxey is creating for them.

You need someone else to step up when Embiid sits out, so teams have to choose if doubling or trapping Maxey is a good strategy, that's why Payne hitting his shots was huge in game 3.

Exactly, and this is why stocking the roster with solid complimentary players should be Morey's focus as opposed to that "third star" and a bunch of vet mins. Embiid and Maxey with a Nuggets style roster is good enough to compete for a title IMO.

Right now, having four players who are threats to shoot around Maxey and playing fast is far preferable to Reed, who offers nothing but an occasional offensive rebound.

Sadly most NBA GMs, probably including Morey, do not see it this way.

Adding a trio of Aaron Gordon, KCP, and MPJ is gonna be harder to stop than just adding some aged star like PG. We have our Jokic and Murray. The blueprint is out there.

It'll be a late night at the house tonight. Time to make sure my fridge has an abundant supply of cold beers.

Josh Hart played the entire 53 minutes of Game 5, primarily defending Maxey and not grabbing an offensive rebound. He might be experiencing fatigue in his legs.
