Also if the Pacers are trying to trade TJ Ford that makes it more likely Lawson goes to the Pacers at 13 I would think. Since Lawson and Ford are like the same thing that was the main reason why i originally thought the Pacers wouldnt take lawson. but that could be out the window now.

Thats what we need. We need it to be between Maynor and Jennings and we need to make it so that Stefanski has NO choice but to draft Jennings.

i like Ford...if there was a way to land him in a deal without giving away Thad/Brand/Iguodala id highly consider it. Hes not a GREAT shooter, but he can nail the open 3, and his speed and passing certainly translate well in our transition game.

There are so many things to love about Lawson, but I'd be lying if I said his size didn't scare me. Sure, you can point to guys like C. Paul and J. Nelson, but the league is also littered with guys at or around 6' that struggle mightily, particularly on the defensive end. The upside is that Lawson is very strong, but I cannot say I will be really pissed off if he is taken before #17. By the same token, I will be OK if he's the pick at #17. I guess I'm just not really sold on any one guy right now.

yea i could see the pacers taking one of the more "nba ready" PG's like Maynor/Lawson .
If they do, we just have to hope it works in our favor and slides someone down to us.

If they take Maynor over Jennings, it will be the decision that determines Stefanski's job.

Say Jennings falls to 17, and Maynor is there as well.
Do you take the guy you like in Maynor?Do you take Jennings and his potetial and run with it?...or do you try and send 17(jennings) to Minnesota for 18 and 45 or 28?

this should be an interesting night indeed...hopefully were somewhat active too and not just 1 and done.

I like that a lot. If Minnesota has indeed promised Jennings at 18, then that could be our way of getting our 2nd rd pick. Because if pick 17 comes up and Maynor and Jennings are sitting there, we will also im sure know a little better by then the likelyhood of obtaining a 2nd rder. So if its not looking good trade Minnesota the 17 for 18 and 45. And heck we could really make Minnesota nervous and they could get antsy if they really like Jennings, because if they think we could take him at 17 then who knows maybe theyll give up 18 and 28 to just to get him. That would guarantee us Maynor, and then Ellington could possibly be there and Thornton or Mcclinton would definately be there at 28.

I'm saying for the record that we're going to trade up and take DeRozan. I'm two for two in the last drafts, as I predicted Thaddeus and was spot on with Speights months before his name was even mentioned as a possibility. I just have another gut feeling about DeRozan and oddly enough, after I mentioned him a few posts back, SF1976 let it be known that we are in fact somewhat interested in him. I hope I can go three for three because many have compared DeRozan's upside to that of Kobe. Now we all know that's not happening but still is a nice comparison nevertheless.

ST, if you are right about DeRozan and Philly has to trade up, I can only hope that they do via Lou Williams, rather than Young or Speights.

Derozan can't shoot. The last thing we need is another player who can't f'n shoot at the 2 or 3.

Why would we ever part with Thad for just moving up in this draft? Teams have traded first rounders away for nothing, teams have traded top 5 picks for very average players.

Iguodala apparently isn't a SG because he's not such a good shooter, even though he's one of the best playmaking wing players in the league. But DeRozan, who is 1/2 the shooter that Iggy is and 1/10 the playmaker, is a SG? Right....

He'd be useless here.

And LOL at trading Young to move up. Forget about including #17, I wouldn't even consider trading Young alone for anyone in this draft outside of Griffin, Rubio, and Harden.

As for myself, I wouldn't do it. I'm just responding to ST's prediction of trading up to get DeRozan, coupled with Stefanski's comments about a team wanting Young, Speights, Williams or Smith to do it. IF they trade up, they probably would have to include one of these guys and I would just pray it wasn't Young or Speights. Like you, I would think that would be idiotic.

Admittedly, I have not seen DeRozan play much, so I cannot really say. However, from everything I have read, he acutally has a pretty good mid-range jumper and can shoot off the dribble. It's his long range game that's in question. Having a good mid-range game worked very well for Rip for many years as he worked on his long range game.

i dont quite get the gripes about lawson's size... have u checked the combine measurements? he was 6'0.5 with shoes on... thats fine especially considering his speed and weight... look at the 3/4 lane sprints... he was like 3rd or 4th fastest (losing by like 3 hundreths of a second) despite being like 200 pounds at his size... his wingspan is actually longer than his height....

the guy is a rare breed of strength and speed, and his 3pt shot was over 40% this past season WITH the college 3pt line moved back... i dont know how size can be a knock with this guy... have u seen how he uses his body and strength to get to the rim? his shot is solid... i would LOVE lawson, he will be better than felton and will be a pure PG version of jameer nelson

His 3 point % was like 16%. Need a guy with some range.

Plus it isn't like his mid-ranged jumper is Rip Hamilton's or anything. Zero interest in Derozan. If the Sixers draft him, then fire Stefanski gets put in my sig.
