What surprised me more is that as geeky as Sam is, he doesn't have a twitter page.. Royal Ivey's got one. AI2's got one. He better get one so we can spam all our trade scenarios at his page. :D
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Hopefully with a new coach Sam will suprise us. I think he has the tools, but needs a coach who believes in him.

I am not at all surprised Sam does not have a twitter page. He does not want to hear from the fans. I am sure that is the ONLY reason he does not have a twitter page. And, obviously, that is why AI9, Thad, Royal and Lou have twitter pages. And, if you notice, he is not working out that much with the rest of his team mates in Philly.

Take out Carney and replace that with Kapono.

Yes, was specifically referring to guard minutes. Would think Kapono is mainly a "3."

Why though?

57% of Kapono's minutes were logged at the two last year. And Thad and Iguodala are gonna take all of the allocated minutes at the three up.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that Jason Kapono is gonna be coming off the bench at the two this season for the 76ers.

Well, I'm sure we'll see Kapono playing alongside Iguodala. It's up to you who you want to call the two and who the three. Labels are meaningless. Not sure if we'll see Kapono with Young, though.

But like I said, just think of it as about 45 minutes total for those 5 backups.

That's my thought process, too. If Iguodala starts at guard and Kapono comes off the bench and plays alongside him, Iguodala is more likely to handle the ball than Kapono. Iguodala would defend the better wing player, leaving Kapono with the other guy.

the sixers would be smart to start daly to give them a conventionally lineup to start but then let kapono come in for daly and go with brand-thad-iggy-kapono-lou and shortly after that put holiday in for lou. A problem I see with our players is not enough defenders, you got daly, holiday, brand, iggy as as above average and to a lesser extent thad and green as average defenders. Ideally you have 3 above average defenders out there at all times but a lot of the time it seems like we may have 2.

They may run that small lineup once in a while, but that's about it. With our 5 big men, and if they are all healthy, I don't see Young getting much time at all at PF. 8 minutes a night, tops. Maybe less.

i agree...with Sams shot blocking n rebounding along with Brand,Speights and Smiths offensive abilities for bigs...its gonna be hard to see alot of small ball.

Had lunch with Ed Stefanski today. He said his biggest questions about the team are the starting 1 (Williams) and 5 (Dalembert) positions, and that Kapono is really making shots in scrimmages.

Also, Temple's Dionte Christmas has accepted an invitation to camp, though there isn't a spot for him (with 13 guaranteed contracts) unless the Sixers decide to carry 14 players, which is far from a sure thing.

Conference call with Rodney Carney at the top of the hour.

Thx for the update.

Given the Sixers current mode I'm guessing lunch for Ed was of the Value Menu variety...

Good line, but not true. Was at a deli across City Ave from PCOM.

Yes, ticket sales are off and fans aren't as interested as they were a year ago following the signing of Brand.

Rodney Carney from conference call: "This is an excellent team on paper. It’s a lot better (than when I left 15 months ago). It’s shocking, actually. ... I hope I can bring energy off the bench and athleticism."

Assuming Holiday plays -- and I think he will -- that means two of these three (Green, Ivey and Carney) probably won't get regular minutes.

Stefanski: "I think the point guard spot will be an interesting one to follow because Lou Williams has an opportunity right in front of him. The question is: Can he take his 23, 24 minutes a game to 34 minutes a game?"

Thanks for the update, Tom. Did Stefanski talk at all about Holiday, or anyone specifically for that matter?

34, really? I was expecting 28-30. As for backup PG, Holiday will play some but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ivey or Green get time there as well. For the first month or so we'll probably see all 13 players playing, not all in every game, but some decent minutes here and there for everyone. Until they figure out the rotation.

He's quite happy with what he's seen of Holiday -- said the kid defends. I think he'll get regular minutes, which Carney, Green and Ivey may not on a consistent basis.

Stefanski on his questions about the starting center spot: "How Sammy will come in … When Sammy is blocking shots, protecting the basket, rebounding the ball, he takes our team to another level. There’s no question in my mind. So we need Sammy to do that for us on a consistent basis."
