I sad that Italy lost but cant say they didnt deserve to lose. Spain did very well and should make it to the final.

Pathetic penalty attempts by Italians though.

I will never understand why teams put their best shooters last in a penalty kickoff. Why isn't Del Piero (Italy's best penalty kicker) taking the first penalty to get them off to a good start?

I just don't get it.

Pathetic game and penalty kicks by Italy... Spain deserved it in the end, even if it wasn't that much better through the game.

Del Piero is far from being our best penalty kicker but he should have kick one of the first 3 shots... :-?

Poor game . Italy's played solid defense , but on the other side .. NOTHING! Spain deserved to win and are a good team .
And Del Piero is by far the best penalty taker for Italy /not including Pirlo /.

Italy took some lazy kicks at the end. They couldn't have made it any more obvious where they were going to shoot.

wow... it was a tough game, not a good game if you were looking for a good show, but a good game of how you should defend and how you shouldn't attack.

italy lacked the spark of a player they will continue to miss, totti. toni looked very lonely in the attack. i think they also missed pirlo. i hope donadoni gets fired, he made some absurd subs. terrible PK.

and spain doesn't look as strong as they say they are. they also lacked some creativity. they depend waaaay too much on what either villo or torres could do. they will advance to where casillas takes them.

Blah.

From an unbiased point of view, to anyone who was watching ESPN...was Andy Gray trying to make everything the italians did seem like a foul or something? They even showed a replay once when villa fell and he tried the best he could to make it seem like Chiellini fouled him.

It was kind of ridiculous. There were those cases with Grosso I think where the spanish players were diving and everyone I was watching with, was asking for a penalty... booo
I was probably the only non-italian there who supported Italy but most people would rather watch a team with no personality like the Netherlands.
Anyway, I hope Russia wins because they are easily the best team in the tournament.

Congratulations to Spain. The first number 1 seed to make it to Semis. That was an interesting trend though. Spain really deserved to win this game. Im thinking that Spain will easily cruise into the finals along with Turkey....if not Germany...but I want Turkey in the finals.

Italy could hardly create **** without Pirlo and Ambrosini was pretty useless.

Yeah I agree that ESPN's commentators were pretty biased. I agreed with what they were saying about the poor officiating but after half time it wasn't really that bad. Even though I agree with what they were saying, it really seemed as if they were rooting for a particular side. I never like to hear biased national broadcasters.

The one positive to take from this is that Italy have found their long term replacement for Cannavaro in Chiellini. Chiellini was by far Italy's best player tonight IMO.

Pirlo's is Italy's best player and they missed him very clearly today. Fabregas should be a regular starter for Spain. They can't expect Villa and Torres to do all the attacking work.
