If Devin Booker doesn't make this banked-in 3, a Rockets win on Tuesday would have eliminated the Suns from the play-in tournament.

Pelicans would have been +33 for the wild card spot, besting the Suns' +31.

But Booker's 3 put Phoenix at +34 and now they should advance. Unreal

Booker knew exactly what he was doing on the last play. Killing two birds with one stone which is get to 40 points and allow the team to advance further in the in-season tournament.

Yeah, I wish they would've made the games more condensed to make it easier to follow. Give me two weeks of tournament action where I can watch a game a know it has ramifications. Like, I'm not even sure which of our 3-point wins over Utah mattered more because one was a tourney game and the other wasn't, but they were back to back.

I'm sure it's some scheduling obstacles but I don't understand why we couldn't just play 4 games (or however many games are played in each group stage) and then advance to the bracket. The every other game scheduling just takes me out of it

Reminds me of the Bubble. Had to go 8-0 and some luck our way to get in. Book's iconic fadeaway on Kawhi/PG to help us win gave us that opportunity

What do you think was more difficult to achieve? The Suns going 8-0 in the bubble or Lakers winning a title in the easiest playoff run ever without no fans?

Saw on reddit, these are the two scenarios where we lose a wild card slot

- Timberwolves beat the Thunder by at least 37pts
(Wolves have a -3 differential so winning by +37 would overcome our +34 differential)

OR

- Kings beat the Warriors or Warriors beat Kings by at least 29pts
(King beating Dubs would knock them out completely. Warriors have a +5 differential so beating the Kings by +29 would overcome our +34 differential)

Ehh no team had fans and they all played in a neutral court so they had the same "advantage". Say what you want about LA but they had the 3rd defensive rating and the 11th best offensive rating AND a "young" 35yo Lebron James.

Going 8-0 is much easier. I hate to discount the achievement that going 8-0 against playoff teams as a young sub-.500 team led by a 23yo Book is but the teams were basically locked into a playoff spot when the Bubble began so their stakes were certainly lower than ours as we were fighting for our bubble lives. Their only stakes were just seeding.

From what I've read OR should be AND.

Wolves are -3 though. They need to score +37 to overtake our +34

Pretty sure it’s the original quote with an AND, not an OR, like another poster said. The Warriors blowout alone isn’t enough. Because the Warriors would win the group with that blowout, and the Kings would be out. So we are only out if the Twolves also blowout.

So the higher, but also extremely unlikely outcome, is Kings win and Twolves blowout. Kings would take the group and Twolves the WC.
