That's a starter for you guys. Perfect fit. Great at drives (70% at the rim), amazing defender for point of attack, good size, quick and he's hitting his open threes. What's not to like?

Doing a write-up on potential break out players for 23-24, and I just drafted this today:

Jordan Goodwin: Dealt to the Suns, who are looking how to fill their depleted roster. Goodwin looks like he could be an amazing fit with Booker, Beal and KD as the starting PG for them. He'll serve as the main PG/point of attack defender. He's a pretty good finisher at the rim (70% last year), and averaged over 13 points and almost 5.5 ast per 75 possesions for the Wizards. Additionally, among players with at least 1,000 minutes this past season, Goodwin's steal percentage ranked sixth in the league. In his seven games as a starter last season, he averaged 12.4 points (42/31/67 shooting), 3.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.3 steals per game - which bodes well for his role in Phoenix, especially considering he hit 39% of his "wide open" threes last year.

Curious to know why per75 is used? I thought the standard is per100

But this is a good write up

100 possessions is to 48 minutes as 75 possessions is to 36 minutes. I think it's meant to set expectations for starter-level minutes production.

That's a good explanation.

I like the pickup a lot. Perfect role player for the team. Now if we just had a 6'9 version of him.

Maybe we asked for him

If he's good and playable (looks like he is), a bird in hand is worth two in the bush

Why not? We gave up a bunch of future 2nds and pick swaps which may or may not have become anything. We got Goodwin now who has played 64 NBA games.

Honestly think he was thrown by request of Beal. Beal seems to be close to him like an older brother. I think I saw somewhere that Beal even coached him in like 7th grade. Beal did an interview about him, talking about how he was proud how he has grown up as a man, became a father and stuff like that.

Bradley Beal is a longtime mentor of Jordan Goodwin. J told me he looks mad in this photo because he didn’t want to take it! His mom made him but he felt like he was better than Bradley…in 6th grade lol

He told Bradley after this photo he’d be right there with him..& here we are

Suns assistant Quinton Crawford wasn’t sure whether Crawford will play in Monday’s game against Miami Heat at Thomas & Mack Center.

“I've got to get with the training staff,” said Goodwin, who is working as the Suns summer league head coach. “They said the knee is sore, but it reacted well overnight. So, we'll see where he's at."

“I took a hit late in the second quarter, but I feel pretty good (Sunday),” Goodwin said. “Nothing too crazy. Just being cautious with it.”

Got me curious so I took another look at his stats. I guess I wasn't that impressed first time I looked, but now after looking at some of the guys I consider better players on this team - Keita and Yuta, neither of whom I thought we'd be able to get in free agency, Okogie, Eric Gordon - I think Goodwin has a solid shot at being the best of the bunch.

Keita - WS/48: .089...BPM: -0.6...VORP: 0.5
Yuta - WS/48: .111...BPM: -0.6...VORP: 0.3
Josh - WS/48: .101...BPM: -0.2...VORP: 0.6
Eric - WS/48: .105...BPM: 0.0...VORP: 0.3
Jordan - WS/48: .097...BPM: 0.7...VORP 0.8

He and Okogie seem very similar. Great rebounders for their position, great defensively, unreliable on offense. Whomever of them gets their shot right is probably going to play, much like whomever of Keita or Yuta is able to stay healthy will play.

Reporter: A 6'3 guard getting 10 rebounds a game! How DO you get all those rebounds?
Goodwin: Ahhh just the motor

SLU head coach: an incredible desire to do it and a great feel for the game. You're going to have the will and want first.

It always amazes me that you could be like a local legend, a college star and still go undrafted.
