Top underrated potential hidden gem late 2nd - undrafted range Power Forward prospects:Part 4 of 51-
Johni Broome- (Auburn- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/johni-broome-1.htmlhttps://www.si.com/nba/draft/newsfeed/first-round-hopeful-johni-broome-stars-for-auburn-in-loss-to-tennesseehttps://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/the-rescoutables-jalen-bridges-johni Johni Broome at 6'10 235lbs with a 7'1 wingspan is just a rugged, versatile, no frills blue collar high motor, mobile, high IQ defensive power forward/ small ball center version of Jarrett Allen with offensive abilities and floor spacing abilities. And although he's not an elite athlete, he uses his size and length very well. He's very productive and one of
IF NOT the very best defensive 4/5 in this entire draft for his size behind Donovan Clingan (with opponents shooting under 40% with him defending them). He'd be an extreme value low usage dirtworker defensive big that wouldn't take shots away from our big three, and knows and accepts his role with a strong work ethic and humility. He's a mix of Jarrett Allen defensively, and Bobby Portis versatility.
2-
Drew Pember- (UNC-Ashville- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/drew-pember-1.htmlhttps://www.si.com/nba/draft/prospect-profiles/nba-draft-scouting-report-unc-ashevilles-drew-pember#:~:text=Prospect%20Profile,-Originally%20from%20Knoxville&text=At%206%2Dfoot%2D11%2C,Pember's%20fluidity%20for%20his%20size.
At 6'11 and closer to 220 lbs, Drew Pember is an under the radar "Unicorn" type of unique big in that not only is he very skilled, with ahigh IQ, and very athletic. But at his size, there's really almost nothing that he can't do on the court. At 6'11, to say his fluidity and versatility is ELITE would be an understatement. Pember can shoot, pass, handle the ball, rebound, is a legit rim protector (11.3% Block percentage). He's got solid burst, and a nasty first step on penetration, processes the game at an advanced level, has a high motor, and is a rugged/ tenacious defender with multipositional switchability. Drew Pember is more or less a more athletic and more fluid shotblocking version of Frank Kaminsky with better versatility and switchability on both ends.
3-
Amari Williams- (Drexel- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/amari-williams-2.htmlhttps://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/drexel-transfer-amari-williams-receives-interest-from-indiana-basketball#:~:text=Williams%20is%20a%206%2Dfoot,shots%2C%20roughly%20two%20per%20game.
https://www.flohoops.com/articles/11456573-5-things-to-know-about-drexel-basketballs-amari-williamsAt 6'10 250 lbs and a 7'5 wingspan and good athleticism and vertical burst, Amari Williams is the perfect name for this big that shares athletic and skill attributes of BOTH Amari Stoudamire and Robert "timelord Williams defensively! Amari is a vastly underrated power big 4/5 that can actually dribble/drive, pass, handle the ball (a bit), rebounds strong, plays a physical aggressive smashmouth game, blocks shots well, and is a very strong and physically dominant paint presence. Similar to (early career) Amare Stoudamire offensively in that he's a powerfully built post player with an impressive developing dribble/drive game and a developing face up game as well. He dominates in the paint with his power and physicality like a slightly smaller Embiid. But he absolutely has ELITE DEFENSIVE potential similar to Robert Williams with great defensive awareness, recovery, lateral mobility and uses his length and power well with stellar defensive timing. He's still a bit raw currently and doesn't produce as much as players with greater usage, but his two way potential is sky high!
4-
Joel Soriano- (St Johns- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/joel-soriano-1.htmlhttps://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/no-stone-unturned-2023-the-big-menJoel Soriano at 6'11 260 lbs (currently) is just a big, ultra physical, very strong dominant post 4/5 that plays with power and tenacity. He's a walking double/double 2nd only to Zach Edey in that category. But Joel is also a surprisingly good floor spacer and passer too. Soriano plays a physical rugged style of basketball, but at his size will also surprise you with his lateral mobility and recovery as well as his underrated passing, shotblocking, absurd
15.1% rebounding percentage, and his faceup ability and ability to hit the three. Soriano is kind of a mix of Boogie Cousins and Kurt Thomas but without the crazy and unpredictableness. Or a more athletic and quicker version of Nurkic!
5-
Zonimir Ivisic- (Kentucky- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/zvonimir-ivisic-1.htmlhttps://nbadraftroom.com/zvonimir-ivisic/#:~:text=Draft%20Notes,isn't%20very%20explosive%20vertically.
https://www.si.com/nba/draft/prospect-profiles/nba-draft-scouting-report-croatias-zvonimir-ivisicAt 7'3 220 lbs with a near 7'7 wingspan and the mobility and fluidity of a wing, Ivisic is just a very versatile and dynamic/skilled wing/forward version of Porzingis/ Wemby upside. Zonimir can do a bit of everything in that he can handle the ball, pass, shoot and space the floor, rebound, block shots, and defend well in space and on the perimeter to a decent level. He'll need to definitely add more strength and polish to his game, but he's a high ceiling 7'3 unicorn big with elite versatility. Again, I see him as a jumbo wing version of Porzingis. or a slightly less athletic, less polished/skilled version of Wemby! He should be a top target for us IF we are sure to lose Bol Bol in upcoming free agency as a great equitable replacement option in that role. His brother Tomislav is intriuging too for his size.
6-
Maxime Raynaud- (Stanford- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/maxime-raynaud-1.htmlhttps://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4898371/maxime-raynaudAt 7-1 251 lbs with a 7'6 wingspan, impressive versatility/ fluidity for his size, Maxime is a very skilled jumbo 4/5 in the mold of a Pau Gasol/ Vade Divac. To understand my perspective better on this, Maximes' skillset has him at 7'1 as a high IQ, very mobile, long big with really good fluidity, impressive passing, smooth shooting and a solid three point shot, good in game processing as an offensive iniator, decent weakside recovery with good motor and tenacious attitude. sets good picks, and make solid decisions with the ball. Overall, he's very skilled and mobile with a good basketball IQ that helps him be really productive. He's a mix of a 7'1 bargain bin Pau gasol and a non bust Bargnani with more size. Or a thicker, longer better passing Frank Kaminsky perhaps.
7-
Quinton Post- (Boston College- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/quinten-post-1.htmlhttps://clutchpoints.com/nba-draft-news-boston-college-standout-quinten-post-declares-2023https://www.nbascoutinglive.com/quinten-post/Quinten Post at 7'0 240 lbs wit6h a 7'3-7'4 wingspan is a very skilled 7'0 4/5 that's just a smart, very solid and fundamentally sound big who's impactful on both sides of the floor. Post can play in the paint, pass well, rebound, block shots, space the floor, has a solid motor, can defend in space and has decent recovery speed. he's an energetic rebounder and a floor spacer with very deep range too. He's not overtly athletic, but can play above the rim reasonably well,he's a gritty tenacious defender that doesn't shy wawy from physicality either. Overall, Quinten Post is a bigger, longer mix of a very skilled and versatile Jock Landale offensively, and an energetic Jacob Poetl on defense.
8-
Grant Nelson- ( Alabama- 4/5)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/grant-nelson-1.htmlhttps://www.si.com/nba/draft/prospect-profiles/nba-draft-scouting-report-north-dakota-states-grant-nelsonhttps://nbadraftroom.com/grant-nelson/At 6'11 235 lbs with a near 7'1 wingspan and plus athleticism and vertical burst, a high motor, impressive fluidity and a tenacious, gritty nature, Nelson is electrifying at times and plays with bravado and an edge to his game. He At 6'11 with impressive fluidity, bounce, impressive versatility and skill, Nelson plays like an edgy, gritty 6'11 JUMBO WING/FORWARD with a chip on his shoulder attitude. He'll need to get stronger and definitely add more polish to his game to become a high level contributor at the 4/5 in the NBA. But he already possesses intruiging attributes. Grant Nelson is pretty much a budget version of Lauri Markannen with less polish and shooting. As an undrafted two way prospect, he'd offer significant value with his size/versatility and fluidity. And his potential high level upside.
9-
Brandon Huntley Hatfield- (Louisville- 4)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/brandon-huntley-hatfield-1.htmlhttps://nbadraftroom.com/p/brandon-huntley-hatfield/https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/five-unique-prospects-with-a-shotBHH at 6'10 235 lbs is just a rugged, physical, athletic, mobile 4/5 with a blue collar utility mindset that also shows early elements of intruiging skills and polish at times. He's long, strong, smart, a decent shooter with a good faceup game, drives and finishes strong at the rim, is an underrated and crafty passer, is also a strong rebounder with an impressive ( 11.3%) offensive rebounding percentage. BHH can also handle the ball and can occasionally take it coast to coast. The flashes are there at times wherein he looks like a mix of Early (rookie stage) Julius Randle and Bobby Portis (in terms of versatility and motor).
10-
Danny Wolf (Yale)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/danny-wolf-1.htmlhttps://www.si.com/nba/draft/newsfeed/college-prospect-spotlight-yales-danny-wolf-Danny Wolf at 7'0 255 lbs is a thick, burly yet very skilled versatile 4/5 with an underrated game due to playing in a weaker conference. Wolf doesn't have any elite athleticism, foot speed or shotblocking at his size, and he won't dazzle you or impress you with his athleticism because he just doesn't have much. But he uses his size, girth, length well, is a smart high IQ basketball player that plays a rugged game and embraces physicality well. He's a very underrated passer, has a surprising dribble/ drive game that makes him hard to stop going downhill, he's a tenacious rebounder and physical defender and a shockingly good 3PT shooter floor spacer having hit around 48% from three on over two attempts per game while also pposting a 14.9 assist% and 2,5 stocks. Overall, Wolf much like Quinten Post, is a very skilled, very versatile rugged big 4/5 with a polished perimeter faceup skillset and deep three point range. He's another mix of a bigger Jock Landale with better shooting, or a more polished better shooting version of Brad Miller perhaps?
Honorable Mentions-Damion Collins- (Lousiana State- 4/5)
A strong, long, super explosive ELITE VERTICAL mix of a more vertically explosive dollar store Anthony Davis/ skinny Dwight Howard.
- Robbie Avila- (Indiana State)
"Baby Jokic" is an apt description for his size, doughy/ unathletic build and yet effective high IQ crafty game that makes the game look easy with his ELITE passing for a 6'10 big man connector. He's also very similar in many ways to Dario Saric both in build, athletcism, but also versatility and effort. He's a knockdown 3Pt shooter at 44% though.
- Ousmane N'Diaye- (Palencia Spain)
A long, very quick, very agile and fluid 6'11 SF/PF that can handle the ball, pass, shoot well from distance, drive to the rim with strength, slash well, and guard at multiple positions 1-5. IF he was only stronger and more polished already, he'd be a lottery pick level talent, but is still pretty raw in need of seasoning.
