Somewhat intrigued by this pick up. Maledon was a pretty good prospect coming through. Pro since the age of 16, former mentee of Tony Parker. Was voted LNB (French League) best young player in 2018-19 (won by the likes of Parker, Diaw, Batum, Fournier, Capela, and recently Wemby). Won a bunch of stuff at youth level, and Parker absolutely raved about him during the draft process.

I quite liked him in his rookie year, though he's obviously regressed since then. Can't have helped playing for two super young teams in OKC and Charlotte, surrounded by bad shooters and no veteran presence.

I do think he's a much better prospect than Saben Lee - shot mechanics are much better and his poise in the PnR is actually quite nice. Wishing him all the luck - this is the kind of developmental home run we need to hit, since this team has such limited avenues to add talent.

We snagged this piece of gem before Greg Popovich ever could. For that alone i grade this acquisition A+ now the hardest part is showing what this young phenom is capable of and we’ll see what happens from there. I hope he turns out like Cam Payne and surprises everyone with his bball IQ.

It seems that we have signed the new Stephen Curry at his prime.

Théo Maledon CAREER STATS 2023-2024

Games: 13
PTS: 4.2
TRB: 1.8
AST: 2.2
FG%: 28.8
FG3%: 16.7

I remember in 2020 there was a mock draft thread where the Suns rep had us trade up from #10 to #4 to select Maledon. Poster was rightly roasted by all.

Dude is RJ Hampton without the talent, from what I can tell.

Dont see him separating himself talent wise from Saben Lee and he isn't better than Goodwin. I dont get this.

He's still like 22, his per 36 countings stats aren't horrendous (13.2 pts, 5.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals career) but his non-free throw shooting numbers are.

Pseudo draft pick to replenish everything we gifted the Nets.

expect nothing from him but we're supposed to be picking up young cheap players like this in the hopes that it works because there's no reason not to. Every team does this and prays they find a real player. Nothing much else to say.

Our best hope is that he somehow turns from a terrible player to a good player like Cam Payne did in the bubble. But not holding my breath.

What I don't understand is why even pick him up if we aren't even going to give him any minutes? We haven't tried Saben Lee much this season why would Vogel trust Maledon over Lee?

just agent's game, no real strategy behind. He should have came back to Europe and fight for a PG position for Paris 2024 !

Why not? Who knows? Maybe he gets better. Too bad we don't have Chris Paul for him to watch. Maybe they can sit him down with tape of KJ, Nash, Kidd and Paul.
