Must've forgot about David Roddy.

I still think Lebron’s a prick but to each their own.

Veteran forward Thaddeus Young will join the Suns, as ESPN reported. The move is expected to become official after the All-Star break early next week, HoopsHype has learned.
Before agreeing to join the Suns, Young received interest from several teams, including the 76ers, Pelicans, and Celtics, who ended up trading for Xavier Tillman, league sources told HoopsHype.
Young is expected to earn a consistent role off the bench for the Suns at the backup four and five positions.

"Thad is a highly respected veteran player who
makes us a better team in our pursuit of winning
an NBA Championship," said James Jones, Suns
president of basketball operations and general
manager.
"Thad is extremely intelligent and plays
with a competitive intensity. His size and
defensive abilities add versatility to our roster."

Re: Thad Young thread
Would love for him to get a bit of run with the squad over the next day or so and actually debut in the Dallas game

“Young is expected to finalize a one-year contract with the Suns within the next couple of days and will likely be available for Thursday's game in Dallas, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports”

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a full go. He'll practice in the next day or 2 and then slowly be integrated into the system. I sense he's the type that can fit in anywhere and won't struggle to gel.

Can't wait to see Thad suit up for the Suns finally. Better late than never, he will surely bring some vet leadership to this team.

Re: Thad Young thread
I'm hopeful in his finally getting here sparks something meaningful. We could use his ability and veteran savvy more than anything else. But a guy of his caliber being cut says something else at this point and is a necessary consideration: Is he "washed" or does he still have something left to give?
He would have been nice to get five years or so ago when the Suns were looking at acquiring him, but I guess things don't always work out as planned. See Eric Gordon this season for an example of that. LOL

Re: Thad Young thread
Thaddeus Young told @BurnsAndGambo that he was almost traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2014 when he was with the 76ers then again in 2021 when he says he was almost dealt here for Dario Saric, Langston Galloway and Jaylen Smith.

I think that was our championship. In 2021 he was 6th man of the year iirc, or maybe the year before. But he would have been much better against Giannis for sure.

I think buyout is much different than being cut (say at the beginning of the season).
Something to think about is 1) he was on a losing team that had no chance to make the playoffs and 2) he was behind a bunch of young PFs and Cs the Raptors needed to develop. He wasn't going to get any time with them. A buyout allowed to him a chance to be part of something and the Raptors obliged.

I suppose so. Maybe using "cut" was a misnomer here. The being stuck behind a bunch of young players in need of development doesn't come as much of a surprise. You'd think the Raptors would have been smart to use him to bring them up to speed and lean in on his veteran knowledge base, but I guess they chose otherwise and to our (potential at this point) benefit.
I'm sure he'll fit in well and add some size and shooting for us.

Raptors spent the last few years being uncompetitive while being reluctant to develop their young guys. It was one of the big gripes they had with Nurse and part of the reason they wanted to move on from him. Now that they have a new coach and have moved on from their heavy usage vets like Siakam and OG, they are all in on developing their youth (and not winning games). That just leaves no need for a guy like Thad who can still be impactful on winning teams and just didn't have a role anymore.

6 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists in 18 minutes.
3/4 shooting and +15 with him on floor.
