+1.

I'm not a Shaq homer, but the guy is still getting shots off at a 58.4% clip. When he does that, you need to give him some touches.

Two points I need to refute:

Porter is not a good coach - and you certainly can't blame the roster for his downfall. What gave you any indication that he was a good coach and just had the wrong tools? HackaBowen? Zone defense vs the Warriors? Barnes in the starting lineup over Hill? He had unproven ideas that backfired quicker than it took for him to think of them. Those are called bad ideas, and bad ideas + crappy season with a loaded roster = bad coach.

He isnt going to slam the Suns in any way - He is friends with Kerr, which was a key part of him getting the job in the first place. Kerr should have fired him 20 games ago, but I believe he let him play it out due to friendly respect. Any bashing he may do in the media is going to be pure unadulterated sour grapes. He has no leg to stand on in a smear fest, because he sucked, and when you suck AND complain, you fail even more. You're silly to think he is aiming for vengeance via media bashing.

You guys gotta look at the rational side of these things. Saying he is a good coach or that he will bash the suns is simply wrong.

Plus the guy made $6M for 4 months. Can't be too upset to get that kind of payout after not doing a very good job.

Not quite, he made roughly $4m, his contract was a 3 year deal only first 2 years guaranteed. Still, amazing salary for 4 months of work. Crook.

I read somewhere that the original report of the third year not being guaranteed was a mistake. but if not, yes, $4M, or, a mil a month isn't bad.

To be fair, it's not like he pulled a gun on someone and forced them to pay that.

Hell, i'm jealous...

Porter must have Dragic's agent....or Diaw's, or MarcusBanks'

Could someone post Kerr-Laid's press announcement, if it is available. There was a reference somewheres on these boards about an uncomfortable moment for him. I'd just like to see that, since he has caused quite a few for me.

reading the realgm Gentry story I had a sudden flash/daydream that with all the coaches Gentry has worked under/with, he's just the guy the team needs - Suns go on a tear like they were let out of jail. defense improves from like 16th to 10th, offense catches fire, we peak just in time for the playoffs and make a real run. "Suns Supernova!" scream the headlines -

then they sell everybody off this summer.

I was just looking over the schedule and outside of Lakers twice, Boston and Orlando once each, It's a pretty easy sked from here to the end. If we get some steam up, guys are happy playing fun and gun under Gentry and the clouds lift, we could win 23-24 games.
That's assuming losses to the teams that ought to beat us (above), and wins over the others. The I knocked off a couple just to be realistic.
We could wind up 50 wins, which would help.
Who do you think we need to worry about? I can see us ahead of Utah, Houston and Dallas with a little luck

Is this possible? yes, realistic? not with this team. I wish I was wrong and that at the end of this season you can rub it in. But I think that the more the Suns delay the rebuilding, the more we are going to be hurting ourselves. It's time to rebuild!
