Completely agree.

I disagree with that. That doesn't set us up for the future. Like mentioned ties too much money into those 3 for at best a 7 or 8th seed as a core. We'd need more than that especially something defensively. But I also don't see J-rich as a long term mainstay either.

^agreed. I think Richardson is as good as gone if they get a shorter/cheaper deal, because they know they can replace Rich's scoring and 3s with Barbosa...

Chicago get their inside scorer and BIG name + expiring, a decent backup PG/SG to somewhat replace some of Hinrich's playmaking/scoring (obviously not D) off the bench, at half the price. As well as a couple of young guys who could make it as end of the bench glue guys/cheap enough to move around or cut.

Philly gets Dalembert's deal off the books, and adds some scoring to what could be a mean starting 5 for small ball (Brand/Young/JRich/Iggy/AMiller), and they could buy out TT to save some $$$ for Miller. Granted, Lou Williams is a talent they probably want to hold onto...Not to mention this frees up more time for Speights to possibly start at the C or PF, depending on Brand.

Suns get 3 young guys who haven't really peaked yet, 2/3 are defensive minded, but all 3 can score double figures nightly if given the chance. Hinrich is a nice replacement for Nash if he does choose to leave and his deal declines from $9.5m this season to $8m when it finishes. BBF - you'll be pleased to know I'm leaning toward Deng rather than JRich now, if only because of his size/propensity to defend better/youth...still that contract is ugly.

The big issue here seems to be whether Philly wants to re-sign Miller and/or take on Richardson's contract

Surely...Amare doesn't have to play C - for a long time cos Dalembert's young too - and Nash gets a couple more lob targets, Barbosa starting next to him, and a VERY good backup...

Everyone here is talking about 2010 like we're actually going to be a big player in it. No big free agent will sign here for comparable money if we're not any good. It will take considerably more money to attract those free agents and we all know Sarver loves to save a buck. At least Deng gives us the athleticism back that we've been missing since Marion left. I know he has a hefty contract but Deng has a lot of promise and is only in his 4th year upcoming. I don't see us getting a better player in free agency next year with Shaq's contract then Deng.

Tastic.... I don't see that deal working. Essentially Chi is trading Hinrich for WGreen, Tucker, JSmith. Seems like, from what I have seen, they should be able to get something better for Captain Kirk. Either way, if we could end up with Deng, TThom and SamDali, for Shaq, JRich and Tuckered out...it would be a surprising off season to say the least. Would we be better? Kerr-veball would spin it supremely.

Absorbing Deng's deal is a hefty outlay. He has big skills and BBIQ.... but to think we could not do better with a couple of 6 million dollar men, well, I am not so sure of that.

Either way, dealing SHaq and not get a post player back would certainly require addition moves.

I agree with Frank there. OTOH, there isn't nothing wrong with Tastic's suggestion to acquire Dalembert since the 76'er's do want to deal him and in need of a SG (JRich) and this can be taken care of in a separate trade and not a 3-way deal.

O'Neal's size is still very important to the Suns.

The main purpose of getting him was to eliminate the ridiculously poor defensive rebounding the Suns had.

A big man has to come back here, if O'Neal leaves.
7'2 330 pounds inside the key is irreplaceable.

Why?
Suns get Deng, still has Miller as expiring.
Bulls get their offensive big man, who can supply free space in the future.

Why?
Suns, are doubtful to give Stoudemire a 120 Million dollar for 6 years. GM is Kerr he wants to establish a defensive team eventually, as Nash is not going to be around for long. The "fun" and "run and gun" system will be phased out, but for now Sarver might as well make money with a mediocre but exciting team. Beasley is a 20/8 player, young and on a cheap contract good for a rebuilding franchise as well as he can contribute NOW.
Blount is the incentive...

Heat, to make Wade happy. Keep him 2010 and extend him. Haslem is good next to Stoudemire, Moon is there also to help at the SF position.

Stoudemire isnt a shotblocker, O'Neal is but it seems everyone is fine letting him go for Miller and Deng..

Tyrus Thomas has to comeback here, I think he is a 2.5 to 3 blocks a game guy at the SF and PF position, a Kirilenko / Marion Hybrid... but no way near as consistent.

Stat can at least have a game where has 4-5 blocked shots, and can potentially average 2 a game over a full season...NONE of those guys in the starting lineup would average 1...

As a shot blocker Stoudemire is okay, (1.5~1.6 career bpg?)
But as an inside defender he is atroscious..
You have to have another BIG with him.

My question again arises, You get rid of O'Neal... a big man better be coming back here.

Its all about whether the Suns believe .. that even with O'Neal's 20 Million contract is expired... that they can convince any of the young stars to force to sign in Phoenix (Beasley, Rose, Mayo, etc)

If they cannot land a young prospect, then sign Kaman?, J.Johnson?
Who? either build through the draft or off young rookies expiring from their contracts.

The more I think about it the more I think that if this deal arises you have to do it.

There is no guarantee that after shaq's deal expires we will be able to sign a young talented player with our capspace, so trading shaq and recieving a player like Deng who IMO has the potential to be an excellent player for many years to come is a no brainer.

I'm putting a lot of faith in our training staff to heal him but I think Deng would flourish here in PHX as a solid scorer and superb defender both one on one and teamwise.

My only downfall would be that we would HAVE to find another big man and the draft doesnt look promising for bigmen.
