What the Suns should if they wanna deal with Chicago is WAIT until the player re-upping period passes by.
Some peeps on here just can't get it and think it's a given that Ben Gordon will stay in Chicago, but it sure as hell isn't the case for now. Dude's an UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT. He can walk and play with the team of his choice all he wants if that's what he chooses to do.
If Ben Gordon walks, the Bulls would be SCREWED unless they get a scoring minded/3 point sharpshooting catch-and-shoot swingman to fill in. Deng isn't a 3 point shooter, Salmons isn't a catch and shoot guy, and Hinrich can't be relied upon for volume scoring.
So unless they get J-Rich to fill in if Gordon leaves, they prolly won't even make the playoffs, which would make signing quality 2010 FA's a lot harder.
So first, wait till the player re-upping period passes by...
Then there's 2 possible scenarios
1ST SCENARIO) -IF GORDON WALKS, then do that PHX-NO-CHI 3 way trade which lands us Deng/Hinrich/Chandler/Tim Thomas for Shaq/J-Rich/Tucker. Chi-town's season would go down the drain unless they do that.
2ND SCENARIO) -ON THE OTHER HAND, IF BEN GORDON STAYS IN CHICAGO, then work out a 3 way between PHX-PHI-CHI :
PHX sends Shaq/J-Rich/Tucker/Bobcats 2010 2nd round pick
PHX gets Deng/Hinrich/Dalembert/Jerome James (expiring)
Philly sends Dalembert/Royal Ivey/future 1st
Philly receives J-Rich/Bobcats' 2nd round pick
Chicago sends Deng/Hinrich/Jerome James
Chicago receives Shaq/Tucker/Royal Ivey/Philly's 2010 1st round pick
If the Bulls extend Gordon, they'll be EVEN MORE intent on unloading Deng/Hinrich then they already are.
Deng would be usefull in PHX cuz of the training and med staff, but the Bulls would have a very hard time finding other teams that would be willing to take on Deng's contract, so they'd look at it.
Philly is the worst shooting team in the NBA and need a shooting specialist next to Iggy, not to mention they're very low on Dalembert, they'd do that too.

The thing is that if Gordon leaves, it's going to be over money, and I'm pretty sure he'd stay if CHI offered him 12 mill a year, which is Rich's salary. Wouldn't make sense for them to pay Rich 12 mill and not offer Gordon 12 mll

Money isn't the only factor in deciding if a player stays or not.
Regardless, of course he could wind up staying with the Bulls too, in which case we do the 3 way with Philly/Chicago...

Say Gordon did walk with the current roster next season...
PG - Rose/Hinrich
SG - Salmons/Hinrich
SF - Deng/Salmons
PF - Tyrus/Noah
C - Noah/Miller
Not a bad roster by any means for next season, Noah is getting stronger, Tyrus and Rose are continuing to get better and we'd hope for solid numbers from Deng, Salmons and Hinrich with Miller giving us some quality minutes off the bench. Then 2010 Chicago has cap space to have a shot at a top tier free agent... The franchise can loose Gordon and still be in good shape, of course resigning Gordon does give you another quality player on the roster but no real flexability in 2010.

^That team's solid talent-wise, but chemistry-wise it doesn't work well since the spacing is shiyt.
Not enuf scoring, and the only 3 point shooter in the starting lineup is Salmons, but even he doesn't help the spacing as much since he's an iso shooter and not a catch and shoot type player.

^man no chance...Actually that was a mistake, I didn't mean to put Dalembert in there - he's only in there if Shaq's moved out
I'm loving the WAS deal...possibly the most unlikely to happen, but if we could get Butler + Blatche + Young then sign me up...Let Shaq expire and go after a Wade or Bosh...

Why do people say Shaq slows the team down when they averaged 118 PPG under Gentry?
I don't believe this rumor.
And if they trade Amare, they better get a good PF in the off-season.
I don't want to see Barnes at PF again.

It's not so much that as it is that with Shaq (under Porter, anyway), Nash/Amare were absolutely neutered.

Porter's system was to blame for Amare and Nash's lack of production, not Shaq.
Remember, Amare averaged 28 PPG last year after the Shaq trade and Nash was BRILLIANT under Gentry.
Even Amare blamed Porter for his lack of production.

Nash's stats was brilliant after coaching change but his impact was not. We lost all the games when he led in score and/or played more than 40 min. And his +/- appeared to be bad during that stretch. Maybe that's because Amar was injured and Nash's game became less effective without him. Maybe Nash is just old now, to be effective playing more than 30 min.

I think if possible Kerr should do:
1) Shaq for Deng,Miller
2) Than in 48hours trade Miller for Chandler
or
in 2010 february deadline Miller+pick/prospect for Chandler

For me that is top 3 starting lineup in West!

Shaq to Cleveland for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic. Both have expiring contracts. Lopez starts at center. Keeps Suns options open going forward.

That was the offer Kerr rejected at the trade deadline.
That was the perfect chance to get rid of Shaq and Kerr missed out on that opportunity.
Big mistake.

^And it was a horrible deal then and a horrible deal now. Why should we give in to that? We could just keep Shaq and have it expire next yr like those two do. We wanted an expiring for this summer otherwise there was no point. Plus, now, we could potentially get something better.
