Gonna be interesting to see how they build up Punk v. Mox for this considering they're making it out like Punk broke his foot again. Doesn't really make sense to me personally. I'm hopeful an MJF return is somehow intertwined. Rest of the card is great though, looking forward to the show.

Kind of feel like Moxley is buried now. Can't see Punk losing in Chicago after they made him go full John Cena in that promo.

Yeah I don't really know how they get around that. My only guess would be that Punk loses again and it causes him to lose his mind and go heel. I don't see him losing in Chicago either but like wtf. I'd really like to see MJF return at this point, maybe he costs Punk the match somehow. He did cut a promo before the absence where he said he would give Punk the most embarrassing loss of his career. Unless Punk cheats to win? Protects Mox, Punk gets heat outside Chicago, Chicago gets to see their boy win the belt. I dunno.

Like I'm pretty stoked to see fired up Punk v. Mox, but this just seems like such a convoluted way to get there.

Shout out to the ladies last night though, good showing, actually got me hyped for the thrown together 4 way. However, if Britt wins because she ate the pin on Dynamite I'll be pissed lol Not to mention we'll have this whole situation play out all over again.

I think if there's one thing to take from this is that they gotta stop doing the interim thing. Just vacate the title if someone is injured long term then have them compete for it when they get back. Especially if this whole thing is just to show Mox as a legit 2x champ in the record books (which is ridiculous when you think about it, it's **** fake sports lmao)

Feels like they just wanted their #1 star Punk to have the Wrestlemania babyface type win. Not sure I love it when he's clearly has backstage heat and they were tapping into that heel edge with his first promo with Moxley. The line about how his surgery means he's been screwed 16 more times than that fat guy was the real Punk and gold. They also could have put the belt on Jericho at Quake which might have made the storyline more satisfying when he finally loses to Punk and cries at All Out but then you need an explanation why Mox is not in the picture and would have messed up their Danielson-Jericho.

It's gotta be. Not crazy about him having a big stable again though. Would prefer he either stand alone or just have 1 guy with him. Kinda like Michael's and Hunter. Maybe just with MJF and big Cass. But guys like the Ass boys added in? Too much

I don’t know if the casino ladder future title shot works like that?

Either way, I see why they didn’t. The whole story was Punk at home with the odds against him and with the crowd behind him. MJF was getting massive cheers (until he did the double birds ). The last thing they wanted was this new stable and massive heel to get the reaction he would have if he won tonight.

I will say that overall I enjoyed the show but there were a couple matches I felt were disappointing. Starks-Hobbs and Jade-Athena in particular. I just don’t get how they hype up Athena as much as they did as a legit challenge to Jade only to have her go out pretty underwhelmingly. And then with Starks, I’m really not sure what getting whooped by Hobbs does for him, especially with all the passion he’s poured out lately. Match started out on fire, as it should’ve, then all of a sudden spine buster and it’s over.

The show was kind of weird in the sense that basically nothing was resolved. I imagine most of these programs to continue.

What a shame they didn’t have more of a build up with Swerve/Lee and The Acclaimed. I’m guessing they’re gonna go on with the whole Bowens let them down again angle and then get the titles eventually. But I’m not sure there will ever be a crowd hotter for them to go over than in Chicago tonight. That was Mankind winning the title on Raw level bananas. Banger of a match too.

I agree. He is also the last guy who needs a mouthpiece.

AEW in general overdoes stables in my opinion. Between JAS, House of Black, whatever this new one will be called, Blackpool Combat Club....it's a majority of the roster.

IMO they have too many guys to push and not enough TV hours....so its stable heavy to get them all something to do.

This is from the media scrum.

Punk is crazy. I know he was answering a question, but you gotta stay on topic. It's wrestling. Topic is MJF. He just used this opportunity to again go off personally on people.
