Nikola Jovic
If Nikola Jovic blows up and has a good year with Miami will Cronin or the Blazer fans regret sending Dame to Miami? Jovic is a versatile 6’10 player that can handle the ball and a decent outside shot. He can probably play both the 3 and 4 and could had looked pretty good next to Ayton. Just concerned that Schmitz and Cronin may have missed Jovic potential but I could be wrong and he could be a bust. Seems like the international players are becoming as good as the US players.

Jovic is also on the same timeline as Scoot-Sharpe

Re: Nikola Jovic
I am not convinced Riley ever had Jovic in the trade.
I like him alot - but not enough to accept a MIA offer even if he was present. The picks we got down the road from MIL + BOS are huge. Will bet on that over Jovic - who again I like but see as a post-injury Gallo at best (A guy that works in a starting linuep heavy on defense or as a elite bench player)

Interesting take on Jovic but I can see a little bit of Gallo.

You should watch more game film of him.
In no way can he play the 3. He's a nice player, but he doesn't rebound much and struggles guarding a chair.
Current Gallo is actually a good comparison for him. Long story short - Murray and Walker both have as much upside potential (which IMO is not that high).

Let’s give Jovic another year or two to see his development but I can see him much better than Walker or Watford. Let’s see how Murray develops as well and if he’s anything like his twin he could be a real good role player.

Jovic www the 27th pick in the draft. I'm of the view that he hasn't done much to change that position.Blazers20 wrote:If Nikola Jovic blows up and has a good year with Miami will Cronin or the Blazer fans regret sending Dame to Miami? So to answer your question, no, I wouldn't have regret. Of course he could blow up and become an All Star. Many could. But given everything in front of me today, I'm taking what we received of any rumoured Miami offer. I'm really really liking those unprotected Milwaukee swaps + unprotected 2029 1st. Giannis will still be a valuable contributor then, but Dame and Middleton will either have retired or be strictly role players.

I am just happy the trade is done and we can be done with all the overhyped Miami Heat garbage that we were supposed to be thankful for. I don't think anyone expected the haul we ended up getting instead.

I remember Portland preferring JJJ over Jovic but Miami never offered both in a trade proposal

I actually like Jaime better than Jovic, although I like both.
The only emotion I’ll feel if either “blow up” is sadness that Miami fans will have a good player.

Just when we thought the Miami charter was done!
I saw very little of Jovic and was not impressed with what I saw so I'm not sold (yet).

Can a 27th pick ever truly be a bust?

The concern is Cronin “may have” missed out on a versatile starting power forward next to Ayton. International players seem to be getting better. The last few MVP’s have been international guys and potentially the next international star will be Luka.

Or the next MVP maybe Luka since he’s already a star.

You're obviously locked in on Jovic...
The truth is, hindsight will almost always be 20:20. The Blazers took a gamble that Milwaukie in 2029 will be worse than the Heat in 2029...and potentially in 2028 and 2030, too. Is that a good gamble? Nobody will really know for a few years. The worst outcome is that the Blazers get some picks in the high 20s. The absolute best outcome would be that the Blazers get the #1 pick 3 years in a row.
Jovic is a fine prospect and he could turn into a bust or the second coming of Dirk...only time will tell. You can't allow those types of decisions to hamstring your whole organization--you get smart people in your organization, do your due diligence, make a decision and move on with the future consequences.

Yes - when they are tabbed as the 'young prospect' in a trade for a superstar.
