Predict this year’s Blundies! (Blazer Dundies)

Post#1 » by DC_Melo » Wed Oct 11, 2023 11:14 am

I am counting down the days for opening night! Till then, let’s make some predictions of potential Blundies winners…

Top Scorer: Simons
Top Wingman (Assists): Scoot
Top Rebounder: Ayton
Top Blocker: Ayton
Top Thief: Scoot
The Brandon Roy Award (our ROY): Scoot
Top Bench Player: Timelord! (Should have larger minutes role than Malcom)
The Nico (Most surprising contributor that nobody saw coming): Jabari Walker (Kris Murray a close second for me)
Rose Garden Crowd Favorite: Timelord
Most Improved: Shae (bet $50 on him at 22:1 odds 8-) )
Best highlight of the season: Shae off a Scoot lob
Biggest contributor to early pattern male hair loss: Billups (to be fair, he’s still learning and last year was a tank season… but it’s either Chauncey‘s coaching or Simons heaving contested triples early in the shot clock)
The Telfair (Player we all get excited about but isn’t actually that good and gets associated way too often with the word potential): Moses Brown & Rayan Rupert

That’s what I got. Let me know your picks and feel free to add in your own Blundies categories!

Agree with absolutely everything besides Moses in the disappointment category.. I think he’ll be quite serviceable esp in limited minutes. Think jerami may have a chance at leading scorer too if ant has to share the ball more than hed like w other guards

Our big man rotation will be a problem.

Guards too. And we have multiple wings who can handle the ball. Still don’t get why people think we suck this year just cause we’re young, but to each their own :D

Ok I’ll play…what the hell is a Dundie?!

Scorer: Grant
Assists: Brogdon
Rebounds: Timelord
Blocks: Timelord
Steals: Thybulle
ROY: Scoot
6th man: hmm…Brogdon
Surprise contributor: Camara
Crowd fave: Scoot (“Scooooooooot” is too fun to say, and sounds like “boooo” en masse”)

Most improved: There are like 2 options, lol—Shaedon and Ayton. I don’t think either will show significant statistical improvement.
Highlight: Lillard tapping his watch unnecessarily in a Rose Garden blowout for the first time on an opposing team.
Consternator: Tossup between Shaedon and Ayton.
The Telfair: Tossup between Shaedon and Ayton.

Not gonna lie… after seeing how well Ayton feeds off the guards, I’m wishing I put my money on him for MIP lol. Especially since Brogdon looks like he’s here to stay, at least for a while, which will cut into the backcourts, and inevitably Shae’s minutes.

He’s an 18/10…what is he going to do average 40/20? lol

24/12 with improved efficiency would put him in the convo. He should get plenty of looks in our offense, and Jerami Grant isn’t stealing any rebounds from him lol.

IMHO, there is zero chance Ayton wins MIP league wide. There will be a different player on a better team who puts up a gross larger difference in numbers.

It’s an unpopular belief here, but I actually believe that the roster as it stands is a bit of a mess. Too many players that need (or should have) the ball in their hands to be effective in Scoot, Ant, Shaedon, Grant, and Ayton…

I think I agree with all of these choices, though I think Jabari Walker has a chance to be the most improved if he gets consistent playing time this year.

Top Scorer: Anfernee Simons (23ppg)
Top Wingman (Assists): Scoot Henderson (6.5apg)
Top Rebounder: DeAndre Ayton (11.5rpg - Top-3 RPG in the NBA)
Top Blocker: Robert Williams III (1.8 bpg)
Top Thief: Scoot Henderson (1.5spg)
The Brandon Roy Award (our ROY): Scoot Henderson
Top Bench Player: Shadeon Sharpe (28mpg / 15ppg / 3rpg / 37% 3PT - 1 highlight dunk per game)
The Nico (Most surprising contributor that nobody saw coming): Toumani Camara (18mpg / 6.5ppg / 3.5rpg - favorite for hustle)
Rose Garden Crowd Favorite: Robert Williams III & Matisse Thybulle - Crowd loves the hustle guys
Most Improved: Shadeon Sharpe (See above)

Also - FWIW I think the rotation will look something like this -

G - Scoot Henderson / Anfernee Simons / Malcolm Brogdan / Skylar Mays
G - Anfernee Simons / Malcolm Brogdan / Shadeon Sharpe
F - Matisse Thybulle / Shadeon Sharpe / Kris Murray / Rayan Rupert
F - Jerami Grant / Jabari Walker JR / Toumani Camara
C - DeAndre Ayton / Robert Williams III / Moses Brown

No surprises really.

How amusing is it the Suns are getting fined a SRP for early tampering and signing Drew Eubanks

We have the Nashty award on the Suns board but I absolutely love the name Blundies as an Office fan
