Re: POLL: Your Realistic Pick at #7
I think that post-measurements, Sheppard and Dillingham are going to fall a bit. And Topic is likely not going top 3 after his injury.
After watching as much as I can on Holland and Matas, I see them as the most likely to not reach their prime ceiling. I also think we have enough data now to realize the impact of playing in the Gleague. Numbers there have to be taken with a bit of a grain of salt...

Clingan if still available.
We need a center that can actually set a screen, contest shots and finish with authority.
Would be great to send Mr Soft Serve packing.

I went with Buzelis. The center I want in this draft is Yves Missi. He is just so athletic and has a fantastic motor. He should be there at 14.

Ya I cant get a read on Missi. On one hand I would LOVE to have a Gafford, Claxton, Lively type center long term on this team (Low usage, switchy, rim protector, great roll man, etc). On the other hand I am not sure Yves is as fluid as any of them. I can see him ending up as more of a Bruno Fernando (Who was a similar size, with a similar vert). A bit stiff on the floor despite testing well.

Re: POLL: Your Realistic Pick at #7
Portland is the one team that might really want to trade up for there seem to be no shortage
of teams who want to trade down. If there is a player (other than Sarr) that Portland really wants,
7,14 could get to 2 or 3.
Clingan is really opening some eyes with a natural 3 point stoke that was not seen in college. if
that 3 point shot is for real, he's 7-1 282 lbs with a 7-6 reach.

That is not Clingan then...
His screens are trash.

Can’t be worse than Ayton. He looks like he’s never seen a screen.

Re: POLL: Your Realistic Pick at #7
The blazers are going to take Holland or Buzelis if everyone in the op listed is gone. Really funny in a typical portland tragic comedy sort of way that this was the worst possible outcome. I really think Edey should be the pick at 14... He's a very skilled 7'4 guy with a 7'10 ws and it's not like he's just big, he's one of the best college players in years.. I mean ffs, I would probably take him at 7 since we got hosed in the lotto.

Re: POLL: Your Realistic Pick at #7
Depends on how the training staff feels about TL, for if he's healthy (IF), he's everything Ayton
isn't
Lets say the team picks Castle at 7 and a defensive big at 14 if TL's rehab is not going well. Portland
still has 34, 40 in a fairly deep draft that might yield more Camaras than star players.
I've got my finger's crossed that Dunn somehow gets to 34 or Portland trades 34,40 to move up into
the bottom of the first round to get someone they need.

Re: POLL: Your Realistic Pick at #7
Trying to be moderately realistic I am hoping at this point for -
7 - Ron Holland F (Assuming here Matas is gone)
14 - Zach Edey C
*** Trade 34 + 40 + future SRP for late FRP ***
Late FRP - Johnny Furphy F
Hedge the bets at F by taking Holland and Furphy - who also have drastically different skillsets so if they both pan out your getting a complimentary duo. Edey is taken as the backup to Ayton and we move RWIII, with the hopes that he can supersede Ayton in a few years and allow us to avoid resigning him to whats likely to be a large deal.

Holland and Edey are my main targets as well. Would love to throw two guys right in that should play from day one, and fit two major needs of ours.

The Pnr with Scoot and Edey could be legendary. Holland as a point of attack defender guarding 1-4 and above the rim slasher with Shaedon being our go to scorer.\
Scoot
Shaedon
Holland
Edey
I like Dillon Jones as a glue guy off the bench with the 34. Reminds me of Roddy, great feel for the game, skilled, but very very poor athleticism.

Edey has 11' hands, 7.3' without shoes, 7'10.5 wingspan with a 9.75 standing reach... I'm really struggling to see why he's not top 5. The same criticism that joker had?

Word has it that he's opened eyes with his shooting and agility so far at the combine. And of course his measurements are elite. I think he's going top 10. Seeing the impact guys like Gobert can have on defense as a drop big, and the high IQ of Edey makes me think that top 10 is a good place for him.

I like DJ too...he reminds me of Roy a little bit. Issue I see with him is that he's not going to get by NBA defenders, and that's where his game unlocks.

It's been like 13.5 years since Oden last crumpled to the Rose Garden floor, minus one kneecap, and I'm still not sure I am ready to draft a giant in the lottery.
Superstition aside, I like Edey. I wouldn't be sad to see the Blazers draft him. He's not the direction I'd go, but that has more to do with me liking other player archetypes than the enormous face-up center. I recognize he displayed quick reactions at both ends in college and is flashing solid shooting stroke in pre-draft, so he could be more than the archetype. I just prefer to place my bets on others.

Honestly, I’m not blown away by any of the forwards in this draft in our range maybe Edey at 7 is the best choice.
Until he hands over his knees landing at PDX.

Agreed. Edey will be solid. I can easily envision him as a mid-tier starter.
Having said that, other archetypes are more valuable in the NBA today.
Im glad the narrative with Edey has changed a bit.
He's a good dude and a hard worker. I was really struggling when people were saying Clingan was a top 5 (or 10) pick, but Edey was a second rounder (or undraftable). They are essentially the same player. Both with similar strengths/weaknesses.
Personally, I prefer Edey, but I can see how others might like Clingan better.

Re: POLL: Your Realistic Pick at #7
No idea if it translates in-game but I actually think Edey has better 3PT form than some mid to lower 3PT shooting C's like Jonas and Nurkic.
Its slow, but he is 7'5 with high shot mechanics, so even being slow its not likely to get blocked. I can definatley see him becoming a 1 3PT made per game type big.

Hopefully Edey even if busts out, is a guy like Boban, who is a guy who perhaps is the most loved
player around the league.
