i would absolutely love a mini-fro on Oden....but it might be even better on Frye or ROY

EDIT: I would LOVE if Oden, ROY, LmA and Webster all grew mini-fros for next year.

Amen to that!!

Black Flag were innovators even before Rollins took over at lead vocals.

The Rollins band put out some great stuff aswell, youre right.. .

Black Flag was BETTER before Rollins, don't get me wrong I love Rollins too, but Dez Cadena and Keith Morris were the originators of Black Flag. Another great band closely related to them are the Circle Jerks.

Just to clear the record, in case anyone didn't catch what I thought was obvious sarcasm, I am well aware of who Henry Rollins is. I'm a child of 80s college rock and punk. Heck, I even lived next door to Dean Clean of the Dead Milkmen in college.

I was never as big of a hardcore guy as you apparently were, Odd, but I did dig the 80s DC scene, mostly because I randomly ended up going to a Minor Threat show in about 1983. I was more into the Minnesota guys like Husker Du and the 'Mats, and the true 80s college rock like early REM and U2 before they were arena rock bands.

Anybody here dig Daniel Johnston? Definitely not hardcore but inspiring to a lot of the hardcore performers? Anybody follow Fugazi after the DC scene expired? Any fans of the Minute Men?

"13 Songs" was one of my most-played albums in college.

Not nearly as much as I was a Husker Du fan, but I do remember pretty clearly when D. Boon died. That was actually a huge turning point in music, when the college rock scene almost exploded with the release of albums like "Raindogs" and "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" and "Psychocandy" and even "The Unforgettable Fire". In all of that, Boons death served as a signpost, and in a way rounded out the scene. Without his death I don't think Husker Du or The Replacements or even The Afghan Wigs and Redd Kross wouldn't have been caught up in the rise as the Minny scene was considered behind Boston and Athens at that point.

Hmmmm.... Might have to pull out my copy of "Double Nickels on the Dime" and finally rip it to my Zune.
