Atlanta is up 21 at the half against the Nuggets

Post#1 » by Charcoal Filtered » Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:16 am

Atlanta is looking unstoppable and a step quicker than the Nuggets. Hopefully they can keep it up as we can use the help.

Mike Barrett commented before the Denver game recently on how the Nugs like to party. Starting to see that and think now is the time to get a lead on them if we are going to win the division.

What does Mike Rice know about making it rain? He would have a heart attack. Or tell the most embellished strip club story ever

Denver has Atlanta's lead down to 10 with 2 and half left in the 4th.

After looking amazing in the first half, Atlanta just came out looking comatose for the 2nd half.

What an ugly finish to the end of this game....

:38.9 DEN - Technical foul on A. Iverson
:38.9 DEN - Technical foul on A. Iverson
:38.9 DEN - Possession lost ball turnover on A. Iverson
:40.6 ATL - Possession lost ball turnover on J. Johnson
1:02 ATL - J. Smith offensive rebound
1:03 ATL - A. Johnson missed a 21-foot jumper from the right wing
1:27 DEN - Bad pass by J. Smith
1:27 DEN - 20 sec timeout
1:27 ATL - Discontinued dribble on A. Johnson

Nothing but turnovers and technicals. Looks like AI got tossed too...

Oh well, at least AI secured the win for the Hawks.

From reading the Denver game thread, it sounds like AI got up in the face of a ref after no foul was called near the end of the game and that's what got him tossed.

He not only got in the ref's face, but when the ref called him for the first tech he did the "you can't be serious" arm swing, really showing him up. The game was over by then, though.

Yes and Nuggets play the Jazz next .. so either way one of those teams is going to fall another game behind us :) (well if we win our next game)

I just saw the replay of the last minute of the Nugs game. One one out of bounds play that you listed as a turnover, Spykes, AI was bodychecked out of bounds (no call). The next time down, it happened again (no call again). It was almost like Tim Donaghy was calling the game--they were pretty blatant no calls.

It is something for us to look at when we play the Hawks--if they are going to be that physical we'll need Joel doing some enforcing.

Crazy. ATL will not be an easy win. Come to think of it, Orlando ain't going to be a walk in the park either. This road trip puts the ough in rough.

It's good to lead the division at least for now. There is still a lot of season left an a lot could happen but it feels good to be a full game ahead right now.
