On that note I was <-> close to buying a Taurean Green Jersey at the Blazer store last week. Didn't have a price tag and was on the closeout rack. I should have asked about the price... but there was just so many people.

I wonder how long until Von Wafer's jersey is on that rack? Or hell, maybe the correct question is: will his jersey ever make it to any rack?

But in all seriousness, I like Von. He's better than any of our other attempts at shooting guard outside of Roy.

He's obviously just a short-term solution but I like what he brings to the table as well. I'm not sure if he's consistent enough to earn anything other than a bench role though.

The less comedic option related to that idea is that they make Brandon the full time point guard and go with a lineup of Roy / Webster / Outlaw / Aldridge / Przybilla

That would be big time significant. If that happened it would seem to be paving the road for a Roy / Rudy back court next season.

I liked what I read when Pritchard was quoted
in saying that the team needs another "attacker".
Thats exactly what I & few others have said!!
Hopefully he can get a few more "attackers".

Wafer, I really wish he was played more. The
small amount of time that he was played I
thought he did good. He showed he has
some nice moves & mixes up his offense.

That is a much stronger starting unit, but it really weakens the bench scoring doesn't it?

Well that would still give us Jones, Blake, Wafer, Sergio & Jack off the bench. Nor do we need to switch an entire unit out at a time, we can mix and match so there's always a starter on the floor.

It would also switch Jack back, again, to being primarily a SG instead of a PG, which s where he has been saying lately he feels more comfortable, with the ball in his hands. Unless Blake were the SG. Blake, Jack, Jones, Frye.

We should hear something during Quick's segment on 1080 between 3 and 5:30.

since you're the OP, are you going to report to this thread with news hot off the Quick tongue?

I'll certainly try my best to do so.

I must've missed that quote from Pricthard, but I completely agree. That's one of the primary reasons I'd really like to see him go after Eric Gordon. Adding Gordon and Fernandez would be fantastic for this team. I've heard Greg refer to Gordon--one of his close friends--as "a killer" on the court... and, from what I've seen (about 10 or 12 game this season and 3 or 4 from his high school days), that definitely seems to be the case.

Gordon would pretty much be a perfect fit in Portland, IMO:

(no particular order)

#1 -- Has the aforementioned mind-state of "a killer" on the court. We could definitely use that.

#2 -- Relentless in the open-court, possessing a great blend of length, strength, speed, and leaping ability. Able to draw contact and finish at the rim and/or get to the FT line.

#3 -- A BEAUTIFUL stroke on his jumpshot. Can drain the J' effectively out to nearly 30 feet. Honestly, I'm not sure if there's any limit to the range on dude's shot.

#4 -- At 6'4", and with the athleticism that this kid has (speed, acceleration, lateral quickness, explosive vertical, etc.), I see no reason he wouldn't be able to effectively defend PG's in the NBA (eventually). It's not something that I think he will be "elite" at, from day #1 in the NBA, but I think he could get there in time.

#5 -- Getting back to his athleticism a bit, his overall speed, alone, would be a HUGE asset for us. The addition of he and Rudy would incite the re-introduction of the fast break to Portland Trail Blazers basketball.

I <3 easy buckets!

#6 -- He can also play off-the-ball, meaning he doesn't ALWAYS have to have the ball in his hands to be effective. A pretty big prerequisite to being in a starting backcourt with Brandon Roy, obviously.

#7 -- He's good friends with Greg and makes an AWESOME complimentary piece next to guys like Roy and Aldridge, as well.

Pull the trigger, KP!

Gordon / Blake
Roy / Fernandez
Oden / Przybilla
_____ / Jones
Aldridge / Outlaw

We'd also then be able to address the starting SF position via an additional trade, or go with the current "SF By Committee" approach (I'd prefer the former, but would be coo' witht he latter as well).

Got some bad news.... Looks like we may be having to wait a little longer to hear anything. Quick said he'd say what he heard the next time they talk (him and the 1080 guys). That should have been today... BUT, he apparently didn't make the road trip with the team, Joe Freeman did. So Primetime is going to be talking to Freeman today. Unless he knows what Quick knew (which is possible), we might not hear for awhile.

:x

I'll post up whatever Freeman has to say in a bit...
