Smart decision to have either Brogdon or Shae on the court every minute of the game. Scoot is just waaaay too raw, reckless and unreliable to be the sole ballhandler and decision-maker on the court at this point.

Should've been an obvious call.

That third quarter was fun! Toumani and Jabari coming through with some wicked blocks, Ashton gobbling up boards, Brogdon slicing and dicing opponents, and Scoot! Scoot was making some great plays there. Love to see it!

Scoot really needs to work on his 3s if he doesn't want to be Andre Miller. He doesn't need to shoot like Dame but I hope he can eventually keep the other team honest as right now teams are daring him to shoot

Brogdon took 21 shots tonight and grant 18. Each took about as much as scoot and sharpe combined. Not sure I like that usage in regards to development

A win! Happy to see that just for team morale.

Scoot needs to work on his 3s to avoid turning into another Mudiay or Dennis Smith Jr. There is no way he will ever be able to turn into such a crafty and smart player as Dre was I afraid.

Even though they still didn't go in the shots looked better. His form and selection looked much better.

I agree. It's not good to lose them all. But maybe at least 62 of them would be nice. :D

Dre wasn't nearly the athlete Scoot is. I'd rather have rookie Scoot over rookie Dre any day

If he made 2 3s he’d have 17 and 7. Scoot has to stop fouling, he’s just 19 so it makes sense he’s still raw in the half court the D Fox comp is there and fits like a glove.

Shaedon has to be more assertive in the 4th

Great all around game from Ayton.

Please trade Grant for gods sakes give away two 2nds if you have to

My deepest fear is dumping grant would cost 1 or 2 firsts which is obviously not worth it at that point

Development takes a long time. Honestly I am not even sure how useful major minutes at the beginning of this season is for them long-term. A lot more of that early career development happens in practice and away from prying eyeballs and the pressures of game time IMO. FWIW I do think Sharpe is ready to be getting significant minutes but even he is not ready to be the guy and get many more shots than he had tonight, it builds bad habits to give a player too much too early.

In some ways it really is better for Portland's veterans to put up good looking numbers and for us to win a little bit behind them this early season so we can get them shopped as soon as and for as high a price as possible. We can tank later into the season as we give the young guys big minutes and throw them into the fire then.
