Oh wow they really did. It's not on instagram anymore.

We’ll know more soon enough. Should be an interesting media day. According to Marang, the Boston deal has hit the league (obviously if PR is mentioning the players), so all questions are fair game. If Williams is in camp but Brogdon isn’t, Cronin should get some questions.

A team might want to get him in quick and also put plenty of time for physicals to see if that injury - elbow, I think? - has healed up.

As long as we get some seconds for him, I'm cool. If we get a first? Even better.

I have to think he might be looking to add another young talented PF to add to the young core, as the main target asset. Good draft pick and an expiring contract is about what I expect he'd be after. Who the PF/C target is... no clue.

Someone earlier suggested going after Zach Collins... Love that line of thinking. He'd fit the bill perfectly IMO. Add a decent 1st and an expiring and I'd be thrilled. If we can do better than that, Do it.

Marang, who’s been spot on for all recent Blazer trades and direction, said the Blazers are prioritizing picks from here on out. I would think that is probably what they’ll target for Brogdon. I think they’ll pull a Josh Hart with Brogdon. Trade him to a playoff team for a pick and a rookie level player who’s kinda flamed out but you can justify kicking the tire on.

As pointed out elsewhere, the original one spelled his name wrong.

2 Deals I like: neither are based on insider info other than Portland has inquired about both main targets before.
Brogdan
4
Deandre Hunter

Royce+DFS
4
Brogdan + 2 seconds

Deandre Hunter + 2 seconds
4
R.Oneal + DFS

OR
Brogdan
4
KPJ(never gets to Portland) + Tari Eason

Let me say I would LOVE either Eason or Hunter at SF/PF next to Grant.

I also heard that we like Keldon Johnson
So
Brogdan
4
Keldon Johnson
but I don't think the Spurs do it.

Somebody is going to pony up a 1st for him. Remember how happy we were to get Aron Afflalo (hopefully we get to be on the other end of that this time)

I would hope that the Blazers can get a 1st for Brogdon, despite his injury history. I really like Brogdon as a player and think he'd actually have been good on Portland the last few years. He has similar 'plug and play' ability that Jrue has--hard to believe that isn't worth something.

If the Blazers aren't getting a first, my hope is they go for a young shooter. Right now the Blazers don't look awesome beyond the 3pt line, and I imagine they will be running a lot of 4 out.

I thought I read somewhere that the protected pick we sent to Chicago eventually reverts down to a 2nd if not conveyed by a certain year (2028). I"m pretty sure we will make the playoffs by then though. It's probably not a near-term concern though.

For contract and injury reasons, I don't think Brogdon lands Portland much of a haul. But our back court is stacked. And he doesn't fit the age of our core. So, if we end up with a protected 1st, two 2nd round picks, or a prospect - I'm happy. I feel like Blazer fans are overvaluing him a bit.

So I guess Cronin is claiming he wants Brogden to stay and be a veteran presence.
It is a very young team so it might be smart to have a vet in the backcourt.

Sound like he's pumping up his value

If Brogdon isn't traded, and is healthy, where he should go is into the starting lineup. He'd be Portland's best and most versatile guard when the season starts. Also he's the best defender at guard other than Thybulle

but I guess Ant is CJ 2.0 and he'll be the inevitable undersized no-defense starting SG. 9 straight years of that failed experiment and Blazers refuse to learn the painfully obvious lesson

This Eason trade is a winner IMO.

I don't get the love for DeAndre Hunter. He's one of those guys who 'looks' like he should be dominant, but really never has much of a net positive impact.

Ant however is Portland's best 3 point shooter, but I could see Brogdon as the starting PG, if he's healthy.

PG Brogdon, Scoot
SG Ant, Sharpe
C Ayton, Williams
SF Thybulle, Murray
PF Grant, Walker

Yeah the Blazers aren't going to screw over Scoot's development to start Malcolm Brogdon.

I see your point.
But if Brogden "starts" 30 games and plays 28 minutes, and Scoot plays 20, it isn't terrible for Scoot's development.
Getting Scoot some reps in the second unit for 20-30 games might even help his development.
We just have to see just how good Scoot is at the NBA level on day 1.
But yea, we don't want any roadblocks to his success.

You know what you don't do day one?

You don't tank your number three picks chances for chemistry and putting his name out there to the world plus being a leading presence for ROTY to play Malcolm Brogdon, who is likely being traded.

That's a nasty thing to do.

Players can only play as many minutes as they can handle.

Scoot will still be the PG of the future but Brogdon who is ten years older will be motivated to
prove himself to the rest of the league, which only brings back more in trade by December 15,
when more guys will be available in trade.

What will be as interesting is Robert Williams vs Ayton to be the starting center. Likely health
will make RW the backup for Portland might choose load manage Williams to keep him healthy.
