I just got back from the game. I was like the only Blazers fan in my area, which was fun.
It was a pretty boring game, as the game wasn't really close after the first quarter. The Blazers executed very well for the most part, with the exception of a couple shot clock violations. It seemed like a lot of possessions ending up as wide open threes for the shooters. Good stuff.
Brandon Roy was fairly passive throughout the game despite ending on stellar 7-10 shooting, but he did have a nice crossover and stepback J on VC. Just another day at the office for hopefully the Blazers' first all-star in a while.
Aldridge rebounded well from his subpar game yesterday, showing a variety of nice post-up moves and his sweet spot-up J. He'll be great once he packs on just a little more weight to bang inside and go to the charity stripe more often.
The player that stood out today was obviously Jarrett Jack. He was aggressive driving to the hoop, and he only made a few bone-headed plays, like taking Channing Frye's pick too early which caused Frye to pick up the offensive foul. It's clear that Jack can be a solid asset to the team when he produces like he did tonight. The problem is just him bringing it consistently.
One last observation is that Travis Outlaw doesn't seem to like passing the ball once he gets it. When the ball is swung to him, you can almost be sure that he's going to put it up. That was slightly annoying.
Overall, it was a solid team effort by the Blazers tonight. It's refreshing seeing a young group of guys doing well playing team basketball. It should hopefully be a competitive game when the team visits the Garden in a few days.
EDIT: Jason Kidd played really good D on Roy when he was on him. They should have left him on Roy all game. They just need to work on their offensive sets or something so Kidd isn't taking so many off-balance shots, which almost never go in. He shouldn't be taking anything but set shots. Also, I liked the on-ball D I saw from Darrell Armstrong. He's pretty feisty still despite being eligible for an AARP membership.
