Dame traded to the Bucks!

Post#1 » by Effigy » Wed Sep 27, 2023 6:30 pm

Per Woj: Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, a 2029 unprotected MIL 1st, and unprotected MIL swap rights in 2028 and 2030 to Blazers.

Now what can we get for Jrue?

As a Raptors fan, it's finally over.

We honestly have tough decisions ahead and tbh need to trade Siakam anyways. Twas fun being in dreamland for a bit.

Like him or not, you have your center for the future now.

I'm happy its with the Bucks and that both Toronto and Miami are out. Dame was meant to be
team mates with Giannis.

Jrue will likely get flipped for more assets

I expect another trade to get value out of Jrue Holiday, either now or by the deadline.

Happy he went to a team that I can enjoy rooting for.

Jury out on this deal until we see what Holiday can return. Ideally something like CP3 and Kuminga - ending w/ -

Dame, Nurkic, Little, Keon for Ayton, Kuminga, 2029 MIL FRP UNP, UNP swaps in 28 and 30.

If we can end up w/ something like that I see it as a better deal than anything MIA could offer and probably on par w/ TOR.

Its funny in a way. I assume Masai and Riley were both trying to keep the powder dry for a run at Giannis in 24/25 by lowballing a bit (MIA more than TOR for what its worth IMO) - and we go ahead and make that dream much, much less likely.

FWIW - those picks and swaps are worth much, much more than the same coming from Miami - MIL isnt a FA destination and the post Giannis years are far more likely to be painful than the post Jimmy years. If the swaps are UNP (I assume they are) then we could be sitting pretty long term.

I like it. I think this was by far the best deal we could've gotten based on any reports I've seen out there

The Blazers are finally free!!!!

Sharpe, Scoot and Ayton is nice.

Can see Jrue getting dealt at the deadline.

The sheer amount of deadweight salary gone. What a delight and ray of sunlight.

Pat Riley is trending on Twitter/X. Watching Heat fans cry is my favorite part of it. Not only do the Heat miss out on Dame, but now they missed out on Giannis all at once. After watching Heat fans be unsufferable and arrogant pricks all summer long, this is so awesome.

First off.. thank god this is over. Funny how it is a team that had almost no rumors about them in the mix but I think that's how it goes pretty often.

Secondly... well Bucks and Giannis are my fav player/team out east so maybe the best possible Lillard destination to me from that perspective. Really hope he is happy there too. (omg I am definitely rooting for the Heat to miss the playoffs)

Third... I hate the lack of picks here and no young rookie scale talent. I think there is more to the story about why we refused Miami so hard, but this looks like the Blazers have zero interest in bottoming out for a true rebuild. Go Vulcan I guess we are trying to make the playoffs this year and lose that pick to Chicago

Ya, entitled MIA fan suffering should be listed as one of the PDX returns in the trade.

OUT - Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic, Nas Little, Keon Johnson
IN - Jrue Holiday, DeAndre Ayton, Toumani Camara, 2029 MIL FRP UNP, 2028 MIL Swap UNP, 2030 MIL Swap UNP, MIA tears

I also like the Bucks and I have had a dream of them playing together for years, I was hoping it would be in Portland but this is easily the second best scenario.

****, I might be watching the majority of Bucks games this coming year.

Jimmy Butler is being a sore loser about it.

That Ayton contract could be tough unless he shows improvement. Maybe with a change of scenery he lives up to it. But Scoot may have the personality and game to be the alpha on this team and Ayton doesn't play better than he's been playing. It wouldn't be the worst thing for the Blazers if Scoot lives up to the hype so that Ayton and others recede into the background.

The Bucks pick and the swaps could be worth it if Giannis and Dame are either no longer on the team at the end of the decade or no longer at all-star level. Dame will be in his late '30s, Giannis will be around 34 in 2029 so he could still be an All-NBA level player.

So the assets which the Blazers are getting is TBD.

OTOH, they didn't have to send much out besides Lillard. They didn't have to send out Sharpe as some speculated and I don't recall Nurkic's contract situation but he wasn't long for the team. Doesn't seem like Johnson or Little were prominent in the Blazers future, with the players they plan to draft to rebuild.
