Salary filler? Roster spot issue for Phx?
Not sure he makes it past training camp.

Ok cool guy, why would he even be included in this deal? He is a rookie, Why was he necessary? Maybe just maybe this kid could be something Schmitz and Cronin covet from this deal?

he has like a 3/4 year contract so I assumed the Suns wanted to hang on to him. I'm not sure he will be cut he's a 14th/15th man who will play in the G.

Other than Summer league and some other international 3 game tourney this year, there's not much more to go from, but he definitlely looks like he could be more than just a throw in.

If nothing else it creates competition in camp, everybody just casts these guys off as trash without even seeing what they can do... Frustrating

Most mock drafts had Camara being taken in the second half of round 2, and the Pacers worked out Toumani Camara twice. We in Dayton Flyers land expected Camara to be taken at 55 by the Pacers. I think it's unlikely that the Suns would have had the chance to sign him as an undrafted free agent. Glad to see him with the Suns, though... looks like there's more opportunity for a roster slot with the Suns.

The Flyers didn't have a very good season due to injuries sidelining both of their starting guards, and due to their number 1 player (DaRon Holmes) not playing as well as expected. Pre-season, Holmes was projected as a mid/late first round pick, but after the season he was projected mid-2nd barely ahead of Camara (and in some mocks after Camara). With that prognosis, Holmes opted for NIL and another year of college. Hopefully he can work his way back into the first round next year. But as for this past season, Camara was actually the better player most nights. Holmes had a down year on offense, but not on defense. Camara and Holmes anchored Dayton's defense, which held opponents to under 40% shooting, top 10 in the NCAA last year.

This is just a copy-and-paste of what I told the Suns' thread right after they drafted him. Camara just graduated after playing for the Dayton Flyers.

He played well at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in April, despite his horrendous 3pt shooting that didn't line up with his college numbers. He didn't win MVP, but most of the press highlighted him as the player who raised his draft stock the most out of everyone in the tournament.

I really dont think he is cut - I may be mistaken but I think the trade worked w/o his inclusion. I think PDX wanted him.

Always worth a swing on a 6'8+ guy that has some defense and hustle to him. Think he is PF3 w/ Walker sliding more to small ball C. We should cut bait w/ Moses Brown IMO.

Yeah, I've heard 2 interesting comparisons for Toumani.
Vando with a developing jumper, less power and quicker feet (eventually).
Torey Craig in Rudy Gays body.
I think he can be a connecting piece some day. The defense should end up being real and the passing/handle are enticing. He can be a good spot up shooter but right now he's trash shooting off the bounce.

Camara looked solid - albeit against inferior competition in the New Zealand Breakers. But reason for optimism. He could be the next Jabari Walker.

for a late second-round pick and with limited opportunities to watch the guy, Camara has that "it" factor. He plays a very engaged mature game. Sad to see him go. You never know with rookies, but I think he has a chance to be a really good player.

After watching Nassir Little, I would rather have Camara.

Little has had some injury woes that have impacted him somewhat he was looking pretty good a few years ago.

If Little can stay healthy I think you will like his energy. I really hope he gets some playing time in Phoenix.

I wouldnt call him a scrub but definitely oft injured. We benefitted from offloading that contract no doubt as the injuries make him not worth that dough. Nonetheless he is definitely a nice role player and energy guy
