Predict Portland’s record for 2023-24

Post#1 » by Moonbeam » Tue Oct 24, 2023 9:17 pm

Our board has had a history of these threads, and there have been a few posts with predictions, so let’s have our say here before the season starts. What do you see for Portland this year? A high lottery position? A push toward the play-in or the playoffs?

I think there is going to be a lot of parity in the NBA this season...but I have a hard time finding a roster with a combination of less experience, worse coach, and ill-fitting parts.

I think the Blazers end the season with the worst record in the NBA...especially if they end up jettisoning Brogdon and Timelord. I'll say 21 wins.

About 25-27 wins seems right.

Less than 20. Probably gonna tank for the first pick and land the 5th overall. This is gonna be a brutal season. I hope people boycott this bs and ticket numbers plummet so Jody finally sells (she won't). I hope Joe gets fired too.

I'm on record as believing they could win perhaps 35 or so games if they can keep their heads above
water in the first half of the season.

At least they have a plan in place as opposed to hoping Dame carries them through the season. Tanking
the 2023/24 season for a top 3 pick in the 2024 draft would be worth it if one of Sarr, Buzelis or Holland
are Blazers going into the 2024/25 season.

I'll go with 23 wins. The West has so many good teams trying to make the playoffs that wins will be hard to come by. We'll hang around the first half of games but in typical Chauncey style, the opposition will make halftime adjustments and we won't have any answer

A few weeks back, I said 27-55. I'll stick with that. If things come together, perhaps they are closer to 50/50, but I don't see that happening.

I’m feeling generous, so I’ll go 32 and 50.

Agreed with most here though, it’s gonna be a slog of a season. The excitement of the Baby Blazers will wear off around Dec I think once it’s clear this team is going to be spectacularly bad. From there on out, most people - probably including myself - will largely tune out aside from some marquee games or another specific reason.

I don't think they will be that bad, I'm looking around 32-35 wins

I hope we can be bad so that we can get another quality draft pick- this is the only way for a small market.
I'll say 22 wins.

I said 38-40 in another thread, so I’m sticking with it. Last night was disappointing, but not necessarily surprising.

Given all the chaos factors we have going against us (brand new players still forming chemistry, rookie PG, youth, Billups, etc…) I envisioned a rocky start. But talent has a way of rising to the top and I genuinely believe this team has far more talent than given credit for…

We will stumble our way to a near .500 record

Yeah I typically make these threads before the 1st regular season game, but I felt that in a year where we are likely looking at a mid 20's win team at best it was a bit rough to even talk about it.

It's one thing to talk about this stuff in a year when we feel we might be a playoff team.

But I will throw out a prediction of 23 wins this year.

Well done! There were several awful teams this year, but Portland landed on 21 wins as you predicted.

I was too generous.
