Our D looks kinda nice and has been pretty stiff lately

After several years of having a bottom half (most years bottom third) defense… we actually look somewhat competent at that end.

Currently, we rank #9 among all teams in Def Rating at a respectable 108.4, and we’ve been trending even better during our mini win streak.

We rank #1 among all NBA teams over the last 3 games played, at an impressive stout 99.3 Def Rating. Obviously, it’s a small sample size and our competition hasn’t been top tier, but it is still an impressive showing by a team with so many young athletes and so little chemistry together.

If this is what Billups brings to the table, I’m starting to come around on him. Let’s see if this is a mirage or something sustainable.

Edit: Forgot to add the discussion question! How long does everyone else think we can sustain a stiff d?

I think it can last a full game, but anything over 4 hours and they should see a team doctor.

A package of OG Dick and picks was discussed but this is a very Toronto board and they love Dick and wouldn't trade him or Siakam

Probly woulda been Gradey and Anunoby in that deal right?

We coulda had some OG Dick

Edit: this is my own fault for derailing the thread, but it would be cool if we talked about the Blazer’s D for a second, and I don’t mean their Gradeys

When does Simons come back? There's your answer.

Trading Dame who is getting some flak for his defence and the injury to Ant does make a
difference defensively.

Our D has been nice, but we’re shooting all over the floor

I am really enjoying it as an entertainment experience. During the dame/cj Era it was the end if we missed a shot cause you knew we weren't going to stop anyone. Now if we miss a shot it's no big deal as we have a chance to make up for it on the defensive side of the game. It might not be a long term winning solution, but for right now it's fun to watch.

The D has been surprisingly stiff, but beware of premature celebration. Blazers D is 4th worst in opponent points in the paint per game; the scheme seems to allow easy penetration, and with Timelord's injury this will likely get worse.

That's the rub.
