Oof… he struggled last night. Missed a lot of open 3’s, had some careless turnovers… I meant to wear my Sharpe jersey to the game and accidentally grabbed my Dame one instead, and by halftime I was cool with the mix up
Joking aside, I think we forget how young he is at times, and how much a shooting slump can affect the psyche of a younger player.
But I have confidence he’ll snap out of it eventually.
Edit: I should also add that we are seeing NBA teams adjust their defensive schemes to stop Sharpe, which was triggered by his hot start. Especially with Simons, Scoot and up until last night,Brogdon, all out, there aren’t any other perimeter threats to plan really plan against.
Defenses right now are daring Sharpe to shoot and have their off ball defenders shadowing the paint when he has the ball on the perimeter, ready to collapse the lane. Has anyone else noticed how when Sharpe swings the ball, the guy he throws to is almost always pretty open? If they could actually hit an open 3, Sharpe would have decent assist numbers
