Why is Chauncey playing Brogdon, Ant and Scoot at the same time? Why is this something that's happening?

Tough, emotional win for Portland. I get why they may have wanted to win this one --- they did a good job of denying the chance to take a big shot toward the end.

That said, these lineups with 35+ minutes for the 4 most veteran players are a little confusing. This is clearly a lottery season for Portland, so at some point, they're going to look to move at least one of these vets and give the younger players some burn, right?

Right?

Chauncey really tried to lose that game with some baffling decisions this quarter, but somehow through the power of Doc Rivers being even more mindboggling we pull out the win.

I think there's some reason to be concerned about Dame. January and February are his nuclear months no matter how the season has ever been going, and he's not been nuclear.

What? You mean we aren't suppose to pull Scoot for one turnover with 9:30 left in the fourth while Chauncey is inexplicably playing Scoot, Ant and Malcolm at the same time? And then we almost lose anyways? That isn't the goal here?

It was a satisfying win for Portland, very similar to their game in Milwaukee.

Best to savor the season's best win for the trade deadline is coming and nobody knows
how many of these guys will still be here

I can’t be mad at this team for beating the Bucks.
1) The draft is a weak one
2) You always gotta try and beat the team of the returning player.

I thought FOR SURE that they weren’t going to overturn the call on that Lillard drive. Props to Billups for listening to and trusting Camara.

Adding Ayton playing like this and Brogdon to the shot making of Ant and Grant really changes the complexion of this team. Having the tough/steady play of Walker and Scoot inching toward getting more comfortable helps too.

Why in the world would Milwaukee have Lillard inbound the ball to Giannis to go the length of the court. That's some Chauncy Billups play calling. Way to go Doc.

Usually you get nuclear Dame at this time of the year when the Blazers are chasing a playoff spot. This has to be different for Dame on a team near the top of the standings. The other thing to consider is how worn out Dame is by the time the playoffs come when he goes "nuclear". Maybe he's saving it for the playoffs.

Nuclear is not only related to scoring. If he was scoring on good splits, there's no concern.

He shot 39/28% in January. That's a concern.

Dame is going through a divorce with a custody battle with his soon to be ex-wife. It may have something to do with it.

Luckily, it's not the Blazers' concern.

It's a wild hunch, but dealing with a new city/team/situation directly after things went south in his personal life could actually be having an effect on him. It's one thing to always be the underdog and have something to prove from below to exceed expectations--it's entirely another to have expectations placed on you and have something you have to prove from a perceived position at the top.

I think we're all very aware of that as well, Shem. It's not exactly new information.

When Lillard was in Portland, he had no help. In Milwaukee, he's playing with a league MVP and defers to him. You didn't see Lillard bring the ball up court in the closing seconds. Instead of having a 90+% free throw shooter handling the ball, who is more capable of getting off a long 3 point shot, Giannis had the ball. He has a different roll with Milwaukee compared to Portland.

Soooo... what are you thinking is the problem now if that's not it?
