Chicago-Portland trade proposal

Post#1 » by Village Idiot » Mon Jan 14, 2008 5:46 pm

With Noah in the doghouse there first with the coaching staff and now with his fellow players unanimously banning from a game I wonder if maybe he's available.

Personally I'd love to have somebody with his passion and winning attitude on this team. He has his shortcomings both physically and skill-wise but I'm of the opinion that the guy has qualities that aren't teachable without extensive brain-washing.

The proposal:

Chicago trades:

Joakim Noah

Portland trades:

Channing Frye
2008 2nd (the highest of our three picks from New York, Memphis and Indiana)
2009 1st-lottery protected

Noah is intriguing, but he seems like a guy who can disrupt the whole team

I don't like it at all.

For one thing, Frye has become portland's 2nd best rebounder behind Pryzbilla.

For another, projecting ahead to next season and having a C rotation of Oden and Pryzbilla, it's hard to see Noah playing well with either. He doesn't have a mid-range shot, while Frye's shooting will help stretch the defense and mesh well. Noah would just be another player opposing defenses wouldn't have to focus on except for boxing out on the defensive glass. And if he's no better at rebounding then Frye....

Frye is better for portland then Noah, and adding draft picks makes the trade even worse.

I'd rather have Frye than Noah. Frye demands attention on the offensive end and is actually a pretty good (and improving) rebounder. He's not a banger, but With Oden and Przy on the floor for 45 minutes per game going into next season, I'm not sure Noah is the kind of banger we would want playing with either of those two. We would be much better going after a physical small forward in the Calvin Natt mold who can compliment the big guys, be physical, but is primarily there for boxing out and offensive production.

*edit: I do think this is the reason why Martell won't be moved. Out of our SF prospects, he is the most "Calvin Natt-like" of the bunch. He certainly has the body to be physically intimidating, and we've seen a few examples this season (too few) where he has done that, but he is still young and learning and I could see him blossoming into a very good inside-outside player on both ends.

No way. Frye is very valuable to this team right now. I can't stand Joakim Noah.

Ugh I would just die if I had to deal with Noah on my beloved blazers I cant stand him either. And honestly on top of that Frye skill set is more useful because of his shooting. If you want the rebounding/ hustle D the blazers should just give Joel more burn.

He's a spoiled rich boy. And he's ugly on top of that. One of my most hated players in the NBA.

From what ive read it sounded like he got in a confrontation with a assistant coach and whatever he did was bad enough he needed a timeout.

As evidenced by his team unanimously voting to suspend him.

Frye is actually playing pretty decent and fits in a lot better than Noah does.

Oh Heck no, Noah could be a decent player, but that price is way too high, if there were some way to help our cap space then maybe, but not this idea

I'm also against this proposal. To me, Frye brings a lot to the Blazers that deserves a lot of recognition. Once he started playing in his comfort zone, rather than trying to play as Greg Oden, I think he's really begun to come into his own.

Shoots over 50%, almost 5 boards and 7 points in a little over 18 mpg. Despite his offense not looking particularly great the past 2 weeks, his rebounding has been terrific. His points also seem to be coming at pivotal points.

I'd much rather keep Frye and his scoring and hope that Oden/upcoming draft pick/upcoming free agency will solve some of the interior woes.

I don't think there's anyone in the NBA I dislike more than Joakim Noah*

Count me in as a member of the "I can't stand Joakim Noah" club. The Bulls can keep him.

I hate Noah as well, but I do have a feeling that he will be pretty darned good in a few years. The kind of guy you hate to play, but love him on your team.

Well that certainly sounds like the type of character we are steering our ship clear of, talented or not.
