I really think it has to do with Rudy....
I think Stern was in town to find a way to entice Rudy to come over next year (ie - signing him to a contract that exceeds the rookie scale).
On thought I had was that Portland could sign him, then imediatly void the last two years of his "4-year rookie contract". Rudy then would then have a 2-year contract. He would play the 08-09 season and sign a big $ extension with Portland with 1-year remaining on his deal.

Stern won't break league rules for Portland. I really doubt Stern was here for anything involving Rudy.

Stern, i believe I read, was in Utah last night, so I don't think we should be trying to read into why he was here,and making up conspiracy theories about it. Looks like he was just making the rounds, per usual.

That doesn't sound like a possible medical retirement. So, the good news is that Miles is going to be activated and available to play.

Man you guys were getting me all excited. This medical retirement thing sounded really great. I've never really been anti-Miles, but the thought of how much flexibility we'd gain would be awesome. So if it's just Miles getting activated on the roster that would be a big letdown

Agreed. In this case though, there is no possible way I will be loving Miles being in a Blazer uni. Hopefully that is hogwash and we really will be getting some
good Blazer news tomorrow.
