All in fun, I'll say a winning record at 42-40.

I’m going to give a couple of breakdowns here.

If EVERYTHING runs perfect. That includes:

- virtually no missed games (ie - 75+) for the top. Seven to eight guys on the roster

- winning 85% or more of games against “weaker” or equal squads (games they “should” win)

- winning 75% of the 50/50 games (games decided by 3 points or less)

- carrying AT LEAST a .500 record against top squads (teams predicted to be in th top six in each conference)

They can cap out at 46-48 wins and surprise the heck out of everyone with a playoff level seed of 5/6.

If they play somewhat above expectations and catch some breaks including fall off/tanking by other teams in the West who experience injury issues or just decide to get into the Victor sweepstakes early I’ll say that .500 plus or minus two to three games and will be a lower seed/play-in team (7-10).

If things go south (major injury time missed or season ending to Sabonis/Fox), losses in lots of games they should win or whatever, then it’s 33-35 or much less if it’s early and they tank for the sweepstakes.

I'll say eighth place. That would put them in the play-in round at the end of the season.

I'm going to say 40-42 for the ninth seed.

I feel really optimistic going into this season. The most I’ve ever felt in a long time.

My heart says the Kings will be at or close to .500 basketball. My head says another mid-30 season.

35 wins prediction for now for me. 10th seed-ish

I'm extremely shocked that national media has Portland ahead of Sac. Is it that people really think Portland improved? Or is it that Sac just finishes with 30-35 wins every season and Portland should be slightly better?

I can't get overly optimistic until I'm proven wrong. My feeling is the talent should win 40-45 games. But something will go wrong and it will be more like 33-37.

I don’t think it’s overly optimistic to say 38-40 wins is in the cards. The team is much improved. That being said, I think the West is going to be ridiculously tough this season and the Kings may not make the playoffs even with 40 wins (even 44).
Im gonna go with 39 wins, good for 8th in the West (heading into play-in).

I have been watching basketball for over fifty years. This is a well-coached team. It's amazing how few really good coaches there are in the NBA. There are a lot more in the college ranks. And even good ones, like Frank Vogel, can get caught in a no-win situation. This team, on the other hand, is hungry and has the horses.

This is very much the way that I feel. I watched smoke Brown coach his ass off in Cleveland. I also watched what were very obviously his defensive schemes for a championship Warriors team last year. He knows how to get the most out of his players and he connects well with the young ones and teaches them to bring out their complete ability.

I also am looking at the list of “same olds” and thinking how they are GETTING OLD. A factor that is increasingly being ignored in regards to the “top” west teams is this one - most are entirely dependent upon stars that are rolling into the downside of their career. And some of them (Kawhi, Dame and AD are the easy shots) are chronic injury issues for a while now. Others like the Joker in Denver have had a remarkable run of good health but could fall victim to that injury big at any time and would be out.

Let’s face facts, you all see my predictions above and they are predicated primarily on HEALTH of the roster. Let’s face it, when you have that caliber of player and take him out of the lineup, the team becomes average or an afterthought.

Things will happen and standings will shift accordingly. But the fact is that we are in the conversation and getting crapped on by East Coast/National media outlets is standard stuff.

Looks like I was the closest at 42, but even in my most optimistic mood, never envisioned 48 wins. Hallelujah!

I was exactly right that 42 wins would land a team in eighth place, though. Only it was the Timberwolves, not the Kings.

Yep, this is a very good team.
