Re: Summer League discussion, Classic & Vegas
Queta turns 24 years old next Friday. Shot blocking comes natural but he lacks fundamentals in every other aspect of his game. Slow offensive processing coupled with his wasted/over the top movements leaves him a step slow on offense. And what's up with a guy his size struggling to finish thru contact?

I gotta be honest I'm not so sure Slawson deserves a two way deal. He needs to show me something in Vegas.

He's going to be manning the middle for Stockton's finest until he's in his mid 30s

So if Keegan doesn't play in Vegas we should get to see some of the others guys more spotlighted.
Right now it's looking like we may want to find another vet min center possibly unless Queta does something surprising.
Ford looks promising so far to me.

Kings SL roster will get smacked around in Vegas. Colby Jones, Jordan Ford, and Alex O'Connell will have more responsibility. Queta will be Queta. Slawson is playing for his life because if I'm Monte I'm rescinding that two way deal. He looks more like a G League roster guy.
Colby is a role player so my fear in Vegas is he'll be forced to do more than he should thus might struggle a bit.

Edwards quietly had two disappointing games. Gotta step it up

Also, looking forward to watching the Blazers with Scoot, Kris Murray, and Rupert. I've always had a soft spot for Portland who I likely would have transitioned to as a fan if Seattle was successful in stealing our Kings.

As long as they use Ford to run most of the offense he should be fine.
But if they want him to do some of that watch out.

I've heard some talk that Slawson is doing some cheap version of Draymond out there. I haven't seen it. But will be looking for it next game.

They were saying stuff about his defense and passing ability as a "bigger guy".
But I didn't notice anything like that.

Re: Summer League discussion, Classic & Vegas
Here is more about Slawson & the Draymond stuff. But I've seen chatter online too.
Furman head coach sees Jalen Slawson as a Draymond Green prototype
“I think he’s going to be kind of a Draymond [Green] prototype,” Richey told the guys Friday. “Somebody that can really play both the four or five [positions], eventually even play the three. He’s got the ability to make decisions, his ability to dribble at [defenders], his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands and make the right decisions with it is really unique.”

Thanks for the clarification. My mind immediately went to unnecessary antics like grabbing, kicking and suchblind prophet wrote:City of Trees wrote:What version of Draymond? It's no longer the Keegan Murray show so they will all have an opportunity to flash. We will see. Like I said I didn't see much of anything other than one impressive rebound.blind prophet wrote:Here is more about Slawson & the Draymond stuff. But I've seen chatter online too.

Draymond got a tech on the first shot he ever made.
But Slawson's coach said he had some fire in him, nothing like that though.

Been disappointed in Slawson so far. Not as much as Edwards though. He should be out there dominating. He looks like he is just doubling down on the things he is good at.

I'll do my best to watch Edwards through a 3&D lens. Technique and IQ should stand out as well.OxAndFox wrote:Been disappointed in Slawson so far. Not as much as Edwards though. He should be out there dominating. He looks like he is just doubling down on the things he is good at.

Re: Summer League discussion, Classic & Vegas
Queta continues to look pretty raw to me. I think another year in the G-League will help him.
Unless I'm missing something but Slawson looks very unimpressive to me. Perpetual G-Leaguer level. Not sure why the Kings signed him to the 2-way deal. I hope I'm wrong. He has good size and hopefully can provide good defensive skill.
I like Colby. I think he is a keeper in a sense of he will be a reliable player for the Kings soon.
