Creating the new general thread for this season.

Sounds like scans came back negative for Fox's ankle so he's avoided a major injury. Still expected to miss a week or so but that's a huge relief.

Would be good to have him back for the OKC game. Should be able to go 3-1 when he is out.

Keep an eye on the Raptors Monte.

Davion apparently starting for Fox… I think Davion’s career is pretty much called with his total lack of offensive improvement at his age. Monk could have started with Jones getting lengthy burn

Would prefer Davion to start. Monk needs to come off the bench. He will close the game for sure. Davion right up against it in his first start of the season, slowing down an ultra hot Steph.

Yeah, I'm happy with Davion filling in as the starter. If you look at his career splits as a starter vs reserve, his numbers are way better when he starts, he'll be fine.

I do think ultimately we should be looking to move him for an upgrade elsewhere though, especially if Colby can handle some backup point minutes with Monk and Ford as depth.

This.

OG and/or Siakam to the Kings would be the needed boost for this team, imo.

Love Davion but if he does not show enough progress this year, the Kings should move on from him. And get as much as they can for him.

Davion' s potential progression is even more of a reason to move him with added value. Fox is knocking on the door of a Super Max so what can you really invest into his back up?

That is a great point regarding Fox.
It has to be on the FOs mind as they plan for the future.

At this point, even though Davion is a terrific on ball defender, he is probably that 1 player that could be traded and replaced with what is currently on the roster. Hopefully he can get it going with Fox out to up his value.

I'd offer up Barnes, Huerter, Mitchell + 25 swap + 26 1st for OG, Thad, OPJ.

Toronto gets some much needed shooting, some picks, and a backup pg better than Flynn. Think both teams would benefit from this type of deal. Kings already have Huerter/Davion replacements on the squad.

Sabonis/Mcgee/Len
Murray/Sasha/Lyles/Thad
OG/OPJ/Edwards
Duarte/Monk/Ellis
Fox/Jones/Ford

Could use Thad + 2nds to get some backup guard depth down the line.

I think that's the right deal for the Kings. The only worry is other teams putting together two firsts. Would Masai go for the picks or try and keep the Raptors competitive with the group of guys in that trade?

I think Duarte could be a good starting SG that doesn't draw too many minutes. Like 15-18mpg. Monk would get 25-28mpg or just mix and match depending on who's hot that game.

Skilled C/maybe stretch 4 who losses focus on D he's 6'11 (7'3ish wingspan) has a nice floater will throw down the odd poster and slides him feet well side to side on D but will he smashed against any SG/SF/PG with a good pull up. He's a bit light for a C his best position is the 4 but jury is out if he can play the 4 in the NBA. 23 years old and had a some amazing performances in the Euroleague last season along with some disappearing acts.

Best skills is spoting up from deep and timing baseline cuts and finishing over smaller players on mismatches in the post, not much playmaking but doesn't do anything stupid in that regard, solid at everything but elite at nothing I guess.

no game thread but I'm going to have to hold my breath on Keegan Murray's development so far this year. Huerter continuing his stuff as well

We're going to have to take more steps to be great this year though, though I like coach Brown's motivation

A big problem to the Huerter situation is Duarte has been garbage. Jones might be our future there, but I see Brown sticking with Huerter because of it longer than I would like

And the Matt George (Locked on Kings) dude seems like a spazz, but he has a point that maybe certain players exertion on defense is taking away from the O

Maybe it's a part of Brown's plan to see if the current group can adjust to the required effort level to play both sides of the ball for 20 or so games, and if it is beyond them, push Monte to go to Plan B. Fox helps cover a few weaknesses which get exposed big time if he does not play. Barnes disappears in games as does Huerter, and Murray is still a little uncertain, so a lot falls on the best 2 players every night.

I think something that is being pushed aside is the fact that all of these guys are trying to get better, but the 1 glaring weakness from the POs last season remains. Domas can't shoot a mid range jump shot. It was the main reason the Kings got beaten in the POs, along with the outside shooting, and its bizarre that you can go into an off season and not work on your main weakness.
Everything else is just noise, if Domas isn't a #2 or a #3 then this team is doomed.
