don't really see how, the one effective thing he does defensively is play drop coverage and contest at the rim, plays bigger than he is and rebounds really well. What makes him a 4? A piece of paper saying '6'9' and that's it?

He is the epitome of a traditional center with excellent footwork/IQ/passing skills. Once his deep shot develops he is going to be able to spread the floor like a small ball center, but he would still be 5 position. I bet they use Christian Wood in the 4 spot on certain lineups with him.

He is definatley a 5, especially on defense. I worry more about him having to defend quicker 4''s than bigger 5's. He has a trunk for a lower body, he will hold his own in the post.

Honestly, his defense has looked pretty good so far. Not going to be elite, but he is great at getting vertical to contest w/o fouling, and really knows how to time his blocks (Reminds me of Goga here, who isnt a quick twitch guy but times so well he is a block machine per minute).

And as a 4 on offense he wouldnt be as dangerous either. As a 5 you can play him high post and let him make the right pass or use his footwork and handles to take the 5 off the dribble and get to the rim.
