I'm 5-11 and my wingspan is about the same. My standing reach is the same as Sheppard's was. I think his vertical is more likely 34-36 inches.

huh? what does your height and wingspan have to do with how high Reed Sheppard jumped at the combine?

I am saying I am much smaller than Redd Sheppard and my standing reach is 7-9. There is no way his is even close to that. The vertical numbers from him are useless.

gotcha. either way, i have a hard time believing he shortened his reach by 6-8 inches. 2 inches, i can see that.

Look at how high Reed's eyes get here, his vertical leap is legitimately 40+ inches.
The idea that he made his standing reach look worse for his vertical to be better is bizarre lol, the league have people there to make sure the measurements are legit.

somebody said he fudged his standing reach a bit for the purposes of making his vertical look better, but even if the true number is "only" 40", that's still damn impressive.

he doesn't play like someone with a 40" vert.

Like what I see here from Castle in terms of balance. His shooting form is fundamentally solid, imo. It’s just very slow.

i understand that. in fact i mentioned it my initial post. i just wondered what the poster's height and reach had to do with sheppard's jump. he explained it later and it made sense.

but again, it's not as if he fudged it by 8" - maybe 2 or 3 at the most. even if not 42, 39 or 40 is still a nice number for him.
