6'10" wingspan sucks though.

Do you have a source on that? I heard 7' ws. The good news is that he was probably measured when he just turned 18. He may have some room to grow. If not, then he's about the same size as Jayson Tatum.

I cant find where the actually measurement was taken, but NBAdraft.net has it at 6'10, SI references his lack of length when it comes to wingspan, and multiple other places reference only a +1 wingspan.

Yeah, but that was from last Dec/Jan. I'm wondering if anything's been updated since he entered college.

GG Jackson doing some dunks during the open scrimmage at South Carolina. Looks like a legit 6'9" in shoes. He's more vertically explosive than Siakam. Still just 17.

Hopefully he wasn't trying because he had pretty pitiful lift on most of those dunks

intriguing but theres' a stiffness to him. Kinda robotic. Maybe he's just growing into his body.

Yep. Not a fan of these stiff, robotic but somewhat explosive players. They all look dominant in HS but too many of them fail in the NBA

Looked good in SC's opener. Got him as a late lottery guy now, somewhere in the 10-15 range..

I've watched his first two games. Here are a few observations:
** He's athletic. He's not as explosive as, say, an Amare Stoudemire, but he's a plus athlete like, say, a young Jeff Green.
** He's comfortable handling the ball and shooting off the dribble. He can use cross-over dribbles and hesitations with some effectiveness when he drives in space.
** He gets off the floor and on top of the rim very easily for dunks and put-backs.
** He can be explosive on straight-line drives.
** He doesn't hesitate on jumpers, which shows some confidence and aggressiveness. His actual shooting percentage will be a huge key for him, however. To be a primary offensive option, he needs his shooting to pop almost like Jayson Tatum's did. He's not an off-movement shooter at this point.
** He's also very quick off the floor to grab rebounds. He's got quick defensive reactions and gets tips and deflections. So that's encouraging.
** He has narrow hips and a high center of gravity, however, which is slowing his lateral quickness on defense. He compensates by using his length and quick hands, but he's pretty upright and he often finds himself trailing the play on defense. He needs to learn to get in a better defensive stance or athletic wings will blow by him. Smaller guards/wings can also pull jumpers in his face.

He has looked pretty meh in my opinion.

Anything beyond a straight line drive he is pretty limited in the half court. His handle is still high and loose.
His shot is low and slow. When he has time to sit there and shoot, he can make it. But anytime someone is defending him his shot is pretty messy and bad and the misses can get pretty ugly.
He also doesnt have great natural touch around the rim either.

But with that said, there is still plenty to be excited about with him. He is athletic (even though I think with not the greatest lateral quickness that limits his defensive ceiling), he has a great motor and he has solid foundation to improve upon. His shot is low and slow, but its not broken. His handle is high and loose, but at least there is something there to build upon.

Honestly I view him as a less athletic Kuminga. One of the reasons I was very high on Kuminga was I thought he had solid foundation to build upon and he was an elite athlete. Now I dont have GG in the elite athletic tier like Kuminga and because of that Ive got him lower than I got Kuminga. Right now I probably have GG near the late lotto (13-16 range).

a rare disagree from me Duke, I love this kid already, Minga is probably my early comp too but he's a bit more sophisticated with the ball in his hands, and I trust his shot a bit more.

he's a combo big tho, not a wing.

I'm watching some of this SC/CSU game, and I have to say the Gamecocks are not a good team. They should be playing through GG in the post or high post, but he's barely getting the ball.

best player on his team at age 17, i think he's doing what he needs to do, though i'd like to see better efficiency at his size.

that jab/pull up in the first clip was filthy

i feel like he's a closer comp to PG than B Miller

I have to watch more, and he's so young that a lot can change athletically, but right now he feels more like one of those Derrick Williams types, but I guess today's league might be better suited for those kinds of guys. I'd be worried that he's not quite explosive enough to attack from the perimeter consistently, and not quite big enough to make a mark offensively inside at an elite level.

neither are great PG comps simply because PG was such an explosive vertical athlete. GG and Miller don't get on top of the rim like that. but those pull ups in that clip were nice. and for GG it remains to be seen what kind of playmaker he can/will be.

I tend to compare him to a guy like Siakam, or in a hopeful, completely best-case scenario, someone in the same category as Tatum. I love that he's starting to look comfortable from mid-range. He's already doing Jeff Green stuff as a 17 year-old.

I've been trying to find comps for PG for years, and they just don't come up.

yea, PG is the prototypical NBA wing, you're not gonna find many dudes with his combination two of way skills, explosiveness and size.

The most 'Paul George-like' prospect in this draft might be Ausar Thompson, assuming he's 6'7" in shoes.

i thought the knock on thompson was that he can't shoot. PG has always been a shooter.
