Yeah I gotta say I'm no insider and I had already seen that he was falling before that post

Did the Twitter post say he had medical flags?
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

So if the twitter post didn't say he had medical flags...and I told you he had medical flags before anyone else here...seems like I knew something doesn't it?

but hey you do you

Credit to you, was the first I had heard of it.

From what I'm hearing it's multiple multiple red flags...

He was massively overrated on RealGM. He's a ball hog and doesn't facilitate for anyone. ESPN claims that he's a "defensive disruptor." I had a chuckle.

Teams are either going to be really wrong about him or will prove why he dropped. There's no in between. I thought Whitmore was a decent bet at 4, and Houston got him at 20. The only issue is, it's to the point where Houston has too many guys so it will be interesting to see what Ime does. I would assume at the very least that Whitmore is in the rotation year 1.

bump b/c he's been killing it lately - pretty absurd that he dropped that far.

I was a little dubious of his stats earlier in the season as they were mostly coming in garbage time against other teams' second/third stringers, but he is getting more minutes lately against rotation players/starters and he has still been impressive.

Still mildly concerned that the ballstopper reputation rings true - he has played 377 NBA minutes so far and made 9 assists. So 0.9 assists per 36.

However he's still 19 years old with a lot of room to grow. It's becoming clear he was at least a top 10 talent in that draft, and probably top 5.

Some horrible takes in this thread. Whitmore is scoring at a high rate for a 19 yr old. And there were many Ls to be had.

We're still at the ‘this draft has 15 All-Stars’ phase if we just take the accounts of fans of every team at face value. Some of you guys need to at least wait a bit more before taking victory laps (if your ego craves them – it's not like it adds any value to anyone else).

Did we ever get the reasoning for the drop? Was it medical or was it something else?

I agree its too early to count your chickens on this. But he is looking exactly like what many expected and why he was viewed by most as a top 5-7 pick.

don't think it's about counting chickens, the drop was absurd regardless of how he's performing now. the fact that he's been producing at a pretty great clip for his age is solidifies that.

not sure we ever got confirmation. there were medical rumors or other rumors that had to do with his conditioning in workouts or whatever...but I didnt buy into any of them tbh.

heard from someone I trust a lot wrt the rockets it was mainly a combo of two things:

1. Kyle Neptune basically ran a smear campaign throughout the pre-draft process. Wasn't explained to me what happened there exactly but those two evidently did not see eye to eye. Pretty sure Sam Vecenie in particular has also said some stuff about hearing this.
2. Cam's camp/agent did not think he was going to drop so he only really met with a handful of the top teams in the draft. Because of that teams didn't get to know him and were spooked by the coach saying bad things about a kid they hadn't really gotten the opportunity to speak to, and him falling out of the top picks added to the spooked factor. Which is why two teams that were comfortable with him tried to trade up for him (Indy and Houston).

The medical flags people pointed to are somewhat legit but more like kinda yellow flags and guys got taken before him with similar or worse medicals that didn't come out because there wasn't a surprise plummet people wanted explanations for.

Not even a rumor, GM flat out said it
“I can assure you we tried as hard as we possibly could on that one,” Buchanan answered when asked if they considered trading up for Whitmore. “We called basically from about pick 10 and down until his name came off the board. It was a frantic room trying to be aggressive to move up into that range. Unfortunately it takes two teams to tango and most teams had their guy and did not want to move. We were very aggressive trying to move up last night.”
